Did he actually do anything in his 30 odd games other then when we let the D's pull our pants down after leading by 50 points?

No.

No. "if we can get his head right" sounds like too much of a risk to me. Let's go for some promising young kid whose already got his head right.

$1 into a swear jar for every time someone suggests that our recruiting strategy will fundamentally change just because of Lyon.

'Lyon likes ... '

I'll chuck in a tenner, just to cover the " Lyon will turn youse into ultrdefensive " or " Do you think your gameplan will change under Lyin ? "

I thinks he's already started to influence...Griff, Crowley probably wouldve gone. i dont think we would be even sniffing Dawsons burger ring if Lyon wasnt here. Not saying that its right...but surely a coach puts subtle pressure on the recruiting dept? The strategy and modelling may remain intact, but we may see shift by stealth......hope not.

you're suggesting that he's somehow going to undermine the club by stealthily encouraging the recruiting department to look at players we wouldn't ordinarily? that makes zero sense. he's the coach of the club, surely any suggestions he makes for consideration are what he deems in our best interests.

It's all premature speculation in the end.

No point going off half cocked about Lyon turning us into St Kilda, on or off field. If we do get Dawson hopefully he can make a good fist of things, and prove to be a handful for Nick in round 4.

I don't feel that Lyon will subversively turn us into St Kilda - what worked for them won't work for us. Different problems, different solutions. He's already stated he's happy to take a back seat in regards to list management - if anything he'll just be chasing certain types of players to fit our new game plan.

Not undermine. Im sure he has his own belief systems and philosophies. Some will mirror what we currently have, some wont. All i am saying is that he will try to wield his influence for what he believes is the best for the club. Bondy and club decision makers will consider his decision, but the end of the day the buck stops with them. Most cultural and mindset changes happen by stealth over a period of time. By no means did i mean that with insidious intent.

Hasn't been the same player since his dad died. But we should be able to find a replacement for him with our last pick in the draft, or do a GWS/Scully's Dad type deal, however, ours won't fall under the salary cap for obvious reasons.

Could be done.

We've already had a pretty clear strategy of loading up with kids with our early picks, then having a free crack at experienced players or mature agers with our later ones.

The only thing I can see Lyon really influencing is the type of experienced players we target with our later picks.

Hate the bastard. Only thing he's done in his career was kick the winning goals against us in that despicable Melbourne game and celebrating like a twat.

Most of his goals were simply being there when the ball came off the pack in the goalsquare. What I couldn't work out from that game was whether he was actually good at reading the play or was just damn lucky.

Turned out he just got lucky for one game in his life. Spud, do not want.
