Glenorchy got handed a massive reality check as Sorell ended up thrashing Glenorchy 12.4.76 to 1.1.7, it took the Dolphins until the third quarter before they managed to get on the scoreboard as Thompson put through their only goal for the entire game. Both Matilda Thompson (44 disposals) and Katie Juhnke (44 disposals) were the shining lights for the Dolphins. Caitlyn Morgan amassed 37 disposals and kicked two goals to be one of the best for the Wallabies. Sorell got off to the perfect start leading 4.1 to 0 after the first quarter. Zahra Incigneri kicked one of two Sorell goals in the second quarter and the Wallabies walked into the half time break leading by six goals.

Bree Weaver started to get more into the game for Sorell, kicking her first goal to begin the third quarter, she would kick two more in the final quarter to finish with three goals. Jenna Hollands began to also get more into the game for the Wallabies, as Glenorchy had no answers for the onslaught that was going on.

Glenorchy laid more tackles, and with Juhnke and Thompson working overtime in the middle a goal was expected to be kicked soon but the Dolphins couldn’t get anything else on the board. The Wallabies defence lead by Rhiannon Cameron, Rebecca Mussett, Tayla Viney and Gemma Miller were far too strong they managed to keep Jasmine Graham at bay and keep Summer Lee out of the game entirely.

The Glenorchy backline were able to keep the Sorell forwards from dominating the game, but they couldn’t get on top of Weaver who was far too tall for the Glenorchy defenders and stood tall when she snuck forward during the game.
The normally reliable Phoebe Walker, Jasmine Graham, and Evelyn Davidson were all very quiet for Glenorchy throughout the game. Maddy Harding was also off her game, for Sorell Arianna Larkins, Rachel Patterson couldn’t have much of an impact, but the Wallabies flexed their muscles and handed Glenorchy their first loss in a few weeks.

Glenorchy bounced back with a 70-point win away to Wynyard this afternoon, the Dolphins winning 12.5.77 to Wynyard 1.1.7. Alexandria Hallandal had a massive game getting 67 disposals for Glenorchy, while Ellie Baker booted two goals for Glenorchy including the opening behind to start off the game for the Dolphins. Jasmine Graham returned to the goalkickers list booting two goals in a dominant display by Glenorchy.

Matilda Thompson continued her fine form with 52 disposals and a goal, while Katie Juhnke had 41 disposals of her own and helped Glenorchy towards the big win. The Dolphins had slammed on three early goals with Matilda Thompson and Ashlee Symonds kicking a goal each. The Stingrays were held scoreless until the second quarter when Ashlee Blair got free of Ellie Campbell and kicked the Stingrays only goal for the entire game.

Phoebe Walker quickly answered that goal, followed by a goal from Belinda Faye and Nicole Bartlett to round out the half of play. Matilda Thompson started to get more on top of the Stingrays getting more of the ball, her sister Madeline Thompson also started to get herself into the game getting 32 disposals for herself.

Jasmine Graham broke free and kicked the only goal of the third quarter, it was a solid passage of play that saw both Thompsons combine to send the ball down to Jasmine Graham who managed to break free and make then from 30 out she put it through. In the last quarter both Ellie Baker and Jasmine Graham booted goals for Glenorchy, Jasmine with the snap to kick the first of the last, and Ellie was hit with a fine pass to send through a goal from 25 out.

Madeline Thompson managed to get herself a goal in the last as Glenorchy didn’t stop trying to put scoreboard pressure on the Stingrays. While Summer Lee couldn’t get on the scoreboard, she was a vital part of the forward line by getting 18 disposals of her own.

It was a rough day for Wynyard’s defenders with Symonds, Baker and Graham posing a threat throughout the day. Sophie Davies was solid in the ruck with 12 hitouts, both Maddy Petrie and Alicia Fairbairn had 8, Evelyn Davidson was a little quiet with just 5. Fairbairn managed to also get 30 disposals coming in off the bench for Wynyard.

Daisy Taylor also had a bit of the ruck for Glenorchy as they tried to share it around to let Evelyn roam the ground a bit more. Taylor managed 37 disposals and 2 hitouts. Glenorchy looked a lot more comfortable and moved the better a lot better than their game against Sorell last week. The Dolphins will hope to build on this momentum heading towards the TFLW finals.

For Wynyard there’s a lot of upsides to their 70-point defeat some of their young players tried hard and got a lot of the ball. Just couldn’t hit the scoreboard as Glenorchy built a wall in defence and prevented much of their forward entries from hitting a Stingrays player.

Glenorchy came from behind on Saturday to defeat archrivals Clarence at KGV Oval by 19 points, the final scores were Glenorchy 7.3.45 defeating Clarence 4.2.26. It was Alexandria Hallandal who kicked the deciding goal that helped the Dolphins start a run to their 19-point win. She also had 47 disposals for the game, another standout performance from her to lead her team to victory.

The game was even all day with neither side getting on top, Clarence leads the first change by a goal, and then by one point heading into half time. They kept that narrow lead in the third quarter before Glenorchy clawed their way to a win. Matilda Thompson again the standout for Glenorchy with 48 disposals, Annie Bennett & Scarlett Campbell were the best for the Falcons both with 36 disposals each.

Ellie Baker’s goal late in the game sent the Dolphins out by 19-points, she booted three for the game and has started to slowly cement her spot in the Dolphin lineup. Brooke Stone and Kara Adkins both managed two goals each for the Falcons, Jasmine Graham got herself a couple of vital goals for Glenorchy as well.

The game was a real hard slog for both sides, neither teams ruck pairing really got on top throughout the game it was even in the ruck stocks. Glenorchy had more inside 50’s only just over the Clarence side. Belinda Faye was unusually quiet this game only managing 12 disposals for the game. Maddy Harding was relegated to the sub for the game, neither Glenorchy nor Clarence needing to call on their subs for this game. It was a cold afternoon in Glenorchy, no injuries for either side which with finals on the horizon is good news for them both.

Glenorchy on the back of a monster 75 disposal and two goal game by Alexandria Hallandal has beaten Launceston by 20 points this afternoon in Launceston. Glenorchy went on to win 7.3.45 to Launceston 4.1.25. Scores were even after the first quarter, and Glenorchy held a small lead going into the half time break, but Glenorchy slowly started to get on top after the half time break limiting the Jets to the single goal after half time. Daisy Taylor also had a monster game for Glenorchy she managed to get 55 disposals, Matilda Thompson with 51 and Bella Watson with 43 were other standouts. Katie Juhnke after a quiet couple of weeks bounced back with 36 disposals.

For Launceston it was Caitlyn Bailey with 35 from half back, and Amy Baker with 33 in the centre that were the best for the Jets. Jasmine Graham edging closer to being the leagues leading goalkicking award winner booted another goal. Madeline Thompson got herself one as well. Georgia Brooker, Alexandria O’Donoghue, Nicole Jones, and Isabella Wedderburn all had single goals for Launceston.

Phoebe Walker for Glenorchy keeps finding the goals as well, while she only had 20 disposals her goals came at vital times for Glenorchy to keep the Dolphins looking at that double chance come the finals this season. Glenorchy will finish the regular season battling Burnie, in what will become a very tough game for the Dolphins.
Launceston will finish their season with an away trip to Wynyard to battle the Stingrays, both teams will want to try and finish this season with a win and regroup for 2024 where near clubs will enter the league and they will want to try and get on the improve.

Glenorchy will be hoping that some players who have been down on form will find some form going into the finals, Belinda Faye again was a little quiet, Ashlee Symonds wasn’t able to get into the game much at all at half forward. Daisy Taylor wasn’t at her best either, but she was able to move the ball well for Glenorchy and was good in patches. Glenorchy won in the ruck this week, relatively easy so that will fill coach Dave Harding with some happiness as the rucks have been a bit of an issue at different stages this season.

After a close final quarter, it weas the Burnie Wolves that walked away with the points over a gallant Glenorchy side by just 2-points. Burnie went on to win 6.3.38 to Glenorchy 6.0.36. Neither side were ever able to get more than a two-goal advantage at any time during the game. Glenorchy would lead by 5-points in the fourth quarter after a Nicole Bartlett goal. Alana Rogers’ goal put the Wolves back in front of the Dolphins and the Wolves held on for a tight victory.

Madeline Thompson worked hard for Glenorchy with 51 disposals, Alexandria Hallandal was also key player for Glenorchy with 42. Sarah Aldenhoven from centre half forward booted 2 goals and had 34 disposals for the Burnie Wolves. Alana Rogers also had two goals and 33 disposals.

Sophie Davies was a prominent target up forward for Glenorchy off the bench, she put through two goals for Glenorchy, Jasmine Graham was well held throughout the game, but she still managed 30 disposals, it was the same story for the Wolves’ full forward Jordan Coleman who wasn’t able to affect the scores but she was still able to assist with ball movement for the Wolves.

Phoebe Walker took on the ruck duties for Glenorchy, she also scored a goal for Glenorchy, the Dolphins have been a bit short in the ruck department throughout the season they again weren’t able to do well in the ruck being beaten 19-15 in the hitouts.

Glenorchy had started Evelyn Davidson from the bench this time around and gave the duties primarily to Phoebe Walker. Matilda Thompson was a little quiet in this game, but her sister Madeline stepped up from the bench for Glenorchy.
Burnie also had Alana Carter working hard for them, she was dominant in the ruck and around the ground while Ainslie Clare was providing headaches from half forward as well. Ally Kidman was not as vocal as she usually is, but she still had 25 disposals and had some important touches for the game and setting up a goal during the game.

The Wolves have been given premiership favourites tag throughout the season, and they showed in this game why they’re predicated to walk away with this seasons TFLW Premiership. The Dolphins had their opportunities to win this game, they couldn’t get the score on the board. Of course, the same could have been said about Burnie, they could have put the game out of Glenorchy’s reach but weren’t able to either.

Both teams walk into the first week of finals without any injury concerns which is what they were both hoping for at the conclusion of this game.

The TFLW today have announced the first weekend of the 2023 TFLW Fnals kicking off next weekend the following games highlight a big first week of the finals.

After last weekends thrilling 2-point win fans will be eagerly awaiting the rematch at West Park thi weekend, the Dolphins will hope to atone for their loss to Burnie. While the Wolves are going to be hopeful another big win to move onto the next phase of the finals without any worries. The Bridgewater side will be excited for their trip to Pembroke Park, their first dip at the finals in their club’s history so they will be buoyed by the occasion. It’s been a while since Sorell have played off in a finals game, so it will be major excitement from them as well.

Hobart are making a shock appearance in the finals this season; many didn’t have them making the finals and it looked like they weren’t, but they manage to sneak into the finals for a shot against Lauderdale at Lauderdale Oval. The Kangaroos will be hopeful of a big win to bolster their confidences after their finals campaign previously ended with them missing the Grand Final.

Clarence managed to regroup after some shocking loses to host Claremont, the Falcons had hoped to be playing a bigger part in the finals in a qualifying final, but they’ve still made it and they’re hosting a Claremont Thunder side which has been a little up and down this season. A bit like the Devils, the Thunder were a lucky team to make the finals.
It’s certainly going to be a big week one of the TFLW finals.

Burnie gets a big win over Glenorchy in the Qualifying Final today after a close first half the Wolves started to kick away and ended up winning 10.7.67 to Glenorchy 5.2.32. Burnie would remain in front of Glenorchy the entire day, never relinquishing the lead at all. In the first half neither side could get a huge advantage it was tight with neither side getting more than two goals in front which was what the Wolves lead the Dolphins by.

Glenorchy couldn’t stop Sarah Aldenhoven who booted five goals and amassed 38 disposals for the game she was the telling presence of the game. Daisy Taylor for Glenorchy was a tireless worker getting 49 disposals, while Alexandria Hallandal 45, and Matilda Thompson 43 worked hard but couldn’t help Glenorchy over the line.

Glenorchy’s forward line was held well, Summer Lee only kicking the one goal for the entire game Jasmine Graham was well held for the entire game as well not affecting the scores at all. Kara Jacobs booted two goals and had 21 disposals herself for Burnie, her early goal got the Wolves off and running with an early goal. Bella Watson answered that not too long after.

It was a quiet second quarter for Glenorchy with them kicking 1.1 to Burnie 2.1, Burnie started to get on top in the third quarter and never looked back after that. Despite the strong work by Daisy Taylor and Matilda Thompson Glenorchy were beaten in many different areas.

Katie Juhnke was also quiet for the game, compared to her usual efforts this season, the Dolphins would be thoroughly disappointed to go from a 2-point loss to being beaten by over 30-points in the opening round of the TFLW Finals.

Glenorchy will play Lauderdale after the Kangaroos ended the season of the Hobart Devils today, Burnie will get the week off and play the winner of Clarence and Sorell in the Preliminary Final. Sorell couldn’t get close to Bridegwater, and Clarence were easy winners over Claremont to see Claremont also bow out of the finals with Hobart.

Glenorchy will host Lauderdale at KGV Oval next weekend, which will be a do-or-die clash for the Dolphins and they would not want to crash out of the finals after a good season they’ve had.

The TFLW have today announced the leagues team of the year which features five players from the Glenorchy Dolphins, two players from the Burnie Wolves, three from Claremont, two from Hobart, one from Lauderdale, two from Longford and two players from Devonport as well as two players from George Town and one from Sorell.

Glenorchy’s Ellie Campbell, Ruby Phillips, Belinda Faye, Charlie Moore, Katie Juhnke, and Matilda Thompson have been the standouts all season for the Dolphins and have been expected to do very well in the league best and fairest award.
Burnie’s Sarah Aldenhoven managed to edge out leading goalkicker from Glenorchy Jasmine Graham for a spot in the side. Grace Eaton from Lauderdale and Claremont’s Peyton Ogilvie were surprise selections edging out possible players from Bridgewater, Sorell and Glenorchy to feature in the forward line.

Launceston’s Caitlyn Bailey also edged out Kate Campbell from Glenorchy for a spot in defence, it was a surprise not to see both Campbell sisters, and Thompson sisters in the line-up.

Caitlyn Morgan was the only member of the Sorell side to make it to the line-up, even though they had a stellar season it was only one of them that was able to make it. Ruby Spangher and Brooke Yea featured from Longford, even though they and George Town who have Jenna Jefferies, and Samantha Hallandal in the side.

Lisa Norriss and Marijana Edwards managed to get the nod from the Hobart Devils, Courtney Swift and Katherine Ishchenko made it from Devonport. From Claremont it was Eliza Hayes and Ashlee Viscentini that were selected in the side.
It’s been a massive first season of the new statewide women’s league, so many new young players came to the game this season a few of them featuring in the women’s team of the year.

Lauderdale have narrowly beaten Glenorchy to knock them out of the finals in a thrilling First Semi Final game this afternoon at KGV Oval. Lauderdale winning 7.7.49 to an accurate Glenorchy 8.0.48. Glenorchy’s Matilda Thompson had 61 disposals in a dominant display, Alexadnria Hallandal booted 3 goals, and had 53 disposals. It wasn’t enough to get the Dolphins over the line, unfortunately as well for Glenorchy Katie Juhnke went down with an injury the severity of it hasn’t yet been known.
The game was even throughout the day, with both sides working hard to get the upper hand Naomi Henley with her 41 disposals helped set up a lot of Glenorchy’s inside 50’s and scoring shots. Grace Eaton showed exactly why she was team of the year with 37 disposals she too stamped her mark on this game throughout the day.

Ayla Griffith on song in this game booting four goals including a last quarter goal to help put the Kangaroos back in front of the Dolphins. Glenorchy got back the lead by 2 points after a Kayla Makepeace behind. Lauderdale had many chances to overtake Glenorchy and didn’t end up doing it until a third straight behind put them in front and they got home with a small victory.

Lauren Shaw had another solid game for Lauderdale, as did Chloe Jacobs, for Glenorchy Daisy Taylor and Ruby Phillips both worked very hard to keep the game open for Glenorchy. But it jut wasn’t meant to be for Glenorchy and they crash out of the finals in straight sets. Lauderdale were very dominant in the ruck, Glenorchy really struggled there again despite this Glenorchy had more inside 50’s but weren’t able to put it on the scoreboard.

Jasmine Graham despite being the league’s leading goal scorer wasn’t able to get onto the scoreboard and wasn’t able to have any impact on the game at all. Young Summer Lee in her first finals series was able to kick a goal, Matilda Thompson also kicked a goal in a dominant display for Glenorchy.

While she couldn’t win the league’s best and fairest award, she has shown to be an extremely vital part of Glenorchy’s side as has her sister Madeline Thompson who only had 18 disposals in this game.

Lauderdale will now travel to Weilly Park to play Bridegwater, while Sorell ended Clarence’s season and advance to play Burnie at West Park next weekend. Both the Wolves and Ravens have been two of the best sides for the entire season, as has Sorell and Glenorchy despite Glenorchy bowing out of the finals after a second straight finals loss.

Clarence was expected to be a Grand Finalist again themselves, but they couldn’t get there after playing in an Elimination Final. Next weekends Preliminary Finals are going to be some great games.

The Burnie Wolves won their way into the TFLW Grand Final today with a big win over Sorell at West Park Oval today. The Wolves won 8.3.51 to Sorell 4.0.24. The Wallabies couldn’t stop Alana Rogers who booted 3 goals, as well as Sarah Aldenhoven who had also kicked three goals for the game. Alana Rogers was the major ball winner with 37 disposals for Burnie. Sorell was led by Clare Bryant with 35 disposals.

It was an even first half with neither side able to get too far ahead of either side, it wasn’t until the last quarter that the Wolves managed to get over the Wallabies and booked their place in the 2023 Grand Final.

Bridgewater also booked their spot in the 2023 Grand Final with their win over Lauderdale, it was
a close game with Bridgewater winning 5.3.33 to Lauderdale 2.2.14. Emily Martin booted three goals in this game. Madison Doherty and Zoe Viney both had 46 disposals and helped lead the Ravens to a Grand Final showdown next weekend against the Wolves.

The Burnie Wolves have today won the 2023 TFLW Premiership after a 17-point win over Bridgewater. The Wolves won 11.1.67 to 8.2.50 in an evenly fought contest that saw the Wolves run out winners. Burnie’s Alana Rogers was named best on ground in the Grand Final, Rogers amassed 38 disposals and kicked a goal to help the Wolves lift the premiership cup.

Ainslie Clare was able to boot 3 goals to help lead Burnie to the win, for Bridgewater Ellie Walker had 35 disposals and booted two goals. Madison Doherty managed the one goal for the game. The game remained tight and close for the entire game, it wasn’t until late in the final quarter that the Wolves started to get on top of the Ravens and walked away as the 2023 Premiers.

Today Grace Stanway and Gabrielle Newman have announced their retirement from Glenorchy, Stanway wasn’t able to break into the Glenorchy side this season. While Gabrielle Newman was selected as the sub a couple of times for Glenorchy this season but played zero minutes.

Both Stanway and Newman were parts of the Glenorchy side that took part in the previous Southern Football League Women’s league before the inception of the brand new TFLW. Both had stellar careers before the creation of the state league and couldn’t make it into the team at all this season.

Glenorchy wishes them all the best in their future endeavours.

Glenorchy have today announced plans to be known as the Glenorchy Huskies going forward, the club decided that going forward being known as the Glenorchy Huskies would be a better way to go. The club will be wearing a dark blue and white jumper with a white sash for the season. The Huskies have also released a new logo, and will be excited to see how the season unfolds for 2024 under the new Huskies banner.

Glenorchy’s Emma Frost has today announced she will depart Glenorchy to play for the new North Hobart Dingos side, Frost wasn’t able to break into the Glenorchy side last year and decided to make a career move for herself. Victoria White has also decided to depart Glenorchy, heading for the East Coast Swans. White also struggled to get a game with the Huskies last season, so she too has made the call to depart the club on a one-year contract.

Glenorchy released a small statement on both players:

We would like to wish both Victoria White and Emma Frost all the best at their new clubs this season, we hope that this move for both brings them much success in the future.

Both were valued members of the club, even though last season they couldn’t break into the side in the first season of the new TFLW, but they were vital to the success we had prior to joining the league.

Both were able to play two seasons with the club when we were known as the Dolphins in the South Football League Women’s before we made the move to the new statewide women’s league. We’ve been privileged to watch both grow as people and players.

Glenorchy will be hoping to add some new depth into the side once the zoning period starts, having lost two players so far to retirement and these two deciding to depart the club for a new home. Glenorchy were able to sign a fair chunk of the 2023 side up to new contracts, some players were already on multi-year deals and didn’t need to resign.
Glenorchy has been enriched with a younger list then some clubs, and are excited to see the future of the brand new Glenorchy Huskies going forward.

Burnie have today farewelled Shelley Wilson, Emma Hartlett, Danielle Harman, Taylor Goodrem, Ally Kidman, Jordan Coleman, Ash Tomkinson, Jessica Richardson, Holly Hine, Brianna Prior and Lily Morgan as they have all announced their retirements from football today.

While Darla O’Keefe has informed Burnie that she will be moving to Hobart and signing with North Hobart for at least the next season. Laura Humpreys has also told Burnie that she will be departing the club joining the new South Launceston Rebels lineup.

Both O’Keefe and Humpreys couldn’t break into the Burnie side last season and decided that their futures would be better at the new clubs entering into the TFLW. Both women were parts of the previous Burnie side in the Northern Tasmanian Women’s League before they came to the TFLW but couldn’t break into their side at all last season.

The Premiership winning Wolves are looking towards the future after claiming the TFLW premiership and have had a decent turnout for their zoning teams. It’ll be a very new look Burnie Wolves side as they look to take on the Glenorchy Huskies in their first game this season

Glenorchy had a disappointing end to the 2023 season, with a double finals loss to conclude the season, but making the top four and making finals was a great achievement the up coming season the Huskies are hoping to go further in the finals and challenge for the flag. Here’s the stats from the previous season and you can see the major winners of the season.

Glenorchy today defeated Burnie atoning for their final’s loss today at West Park, it was a tight first half with Glenorchy eventually getting on top of Burnie and running out winners 8.4.52 to Burnie 5.3.33. Burnie led the early stages of the game, heading into the half time break with a one-point lead before Glenorchy overturned that and got the win. Matilda Thompson started well for Glenorchy booting 2 goals and gathering 52 disposals.

Her forward entries helped forward Summer Lee to at least one of her two goals against Burnie Alana Rogers worked hard and kicked a goal for the Wolves, but it wasn’t enough to get them the win. Glenorchy started their dominance in the third quarter on the back of Matilda Thompson, Jasmine Graham and Daisy Taylor.

Holly Lewis kicked the only goal for the Wolves in the third quarter, she was well held by Jessica Hammond. Tayla Morrissey had a quiet debut from half back with just 16 disposals but it was enough for Glenorchy to get the four points and start the season right after bowing out of the last years finals without a whimper.

It was a winning start to their TFLW season for the Seagulls, as they beat the Dingos at North Hobart Oval today. Bridport never trailed during the game, they got a slight lead at the first break and went onto beat North Hobart 9.6.60 to 4.7.31. The Seagulls were led by Lauren Mainwaring with 63 disposals, and Molly Kulikowski with 57. Ashlee Bloomer was the stats winner for North Hobart she amassed 51 disposals and worked hard to keep the Dingos in the game.

Jasmine Stokes was a tough force up forward for Bridport, she would go onto boot 3 goals, Alexandria Chalmers also had three from centre half forward. Kristy Mohr had a good game at half forward for the Dingos she booted two goals, she worked very hard to get more on the board for the Dingos, but it became increasingly hard when Bridport put the screws on and kept the ball out of their 50.

Alicia Ryan had a big second half for North Hobart getting 40 disposals she struggled to break into the Launceston team and decided to head south for some new opportunities, 19-year-old Georgia Stewart also had 37 on debut. She was zoned to Bridgewater but couldn’t make it into their team, she was left without a spot and the Dingos offered her a place for the season.

For the Seagulls Brittany Hallahan had 49 disposals she made 17 appearances for Devonport before heading to Bridport. Seagulls’ fans are already excited about the prospect of Mainwaring after her debut. The 22-year-old came through the Seagulls juniors, and jumped at the chance to play for her local side and didn’t disappoint.

Bridport are next at home to another side beginning their TFLW journey Brighton, the Bombers got a big win over Sorell. North Hobart will travel to Latrobe to face the Panthers, they weren’t able to get close to the Claremont Thunder who started off with a win.

Glenorchy scored an easy win over archrival Clarence today at KGV Oval, Glenorchy won 11.8.74 to 3.3.21. Matilda Thompson had a day out with 66 disposals, Daisy Taylor put Glenorchy on the board early and went on to boot 3 goals for Glenorchy. Alexandria Hallandal managed to get 53 disposals and kicked two goals of her own. Tayla Mitchell scored two of the three goals for Clarence in what was a disappointing day out for the Falcons.

It was a tight first half with Glenorchy leading the half time break by seven points, it was the third quarter where the Huskies started to make their move on the back of Katie Juhnke and Daisy Taylor starting to get more into the game.
Erin Muir set up a second goal for Taylor, before Naomi Henley popped up with her first goal finishing with three on the day. The Falcons couldn’t stop Summer Lee as she booted two goals in the second half, Naomi Hart booted the one goal for Glenorchy in a bit of a quiet game.

Jasmine Graham couldn’t at all get into the game for Glenorchy, but the Huskies had Taylor, Henley and Hallandal step up. Brooke Stone and Bree Stewart were the best for the Falcons with 42 and 41 disposals respectively. Scarlett Campbell and Julia Collins both started to get into the game for Clarence in the second half but couldn’t impact on the scoreboard.
The Falcons only managed to score two goals and two behinds in the second half, Glenorchy managed to beat Clarence in most of the stats for the game as well. Glenorchy would enter the forward 50 39 times to score 11.8, Clarence went in there 25 times but had no avenue to goal at all.

The National Women’s Football League & Australian Football Council are excited to announce the formation of the Allies All-Stars team that will be playing out of the Melbourne Football Ground in 2025. The Allies side will be wearing teal, orange and black and will soon start looking for a coach in the coming weeks for both their men’s and women’s programs.

Both clubs will work together to form the best possible side with the best possible talent across Australia and from the USAFL should there be talent that the team has found that will suit their needs.

Alexander Blake has taken over as president of the club and will oversee both the men’s and women’s teams until such time as a suitable board can be put together.

A late goal by Isabella Reeves sees Bridport get an 8-point win over a fast-finishing Brighton, the Seagulls going on to win 15.9.99 to 13.13. Brighton had a big final quarter piling on the goals to draw close to the Seagulls, but once Reeves goaled the Seagulls were able to get home with a win.
After a very tight first half with neither side getting more than two goals ahead of each other, Bridport started to kick away in the final quarter but Brighton managed to come back. Jenna Dickson started to get away from her opponent and managed to boot 3 of her six goals in the last quarter. It was almost enough to get Brighton over the line until Reeves popped up and put through the winning goal for Bridport.
Jenna Dickson ended the game with 63 disposals for the Bombers, Breann Powell also had 59 and was a vital part in the Brighton comeback. Teagan Irwin (44), Parker DePrince (43) and Lauren Mainwaring (39 plus 3 goals) were the best for the Seagulls. Alexandria Chalmers booted 6 goals while Isabella Reeves kicked 5 plus the winner for the game.
Emily Jones for Brighton also managed to boot 5, it was a bit of a goal fest from both sides throughout the game. Brittany Hallahan is making the most of her new start at Bridport with another good game with 32 disposals and two goals.

The Allies All-Stars have today made the decision not to sign Reannon Sinclair as a zonal selection, after careful consideration. All-Stars list interim list manager Connor Andrews believing Sinclair hasn’t got the ability to play at a level that is required.

“We’ve decided to pass on Sinclair, we’ve done our due diligence on the zonal selections and have decided she doesn’t fit what we’re going to be building at the club.” Andrews said to ABC Radio.

With the Allies looking to pre-list players ahead of their entry into the National Women’s Football League next season they’ve begun the tough task of preparing a list of players to bring with them to the women’s league. The Allies have held tryouts and have identified a couple of prospects already, one being Robyn Black of whom Andrews believes plays a lot like a young Tim Watson.

“We were pleased with Robyn Black at our training camp, she’s going to be a vital part of the team when we enter the league. A dashing midfielder she’s got the look of a young (Tim) Watson, we’re exciting by the prospect.” He spoke.

Only Reannon Sinclair was a zonal prospect for the Allies All-Stars, after careful testing the list manager decided not to pursue her as a zonal signing on the list. The Allies have a few more players to do some testing with before they start to sign more players. The list currently just has Robyn Black on there now.

Ryland and Garrard are still being accessed as possible signees.

Glenorchy never looked like losing their clash against Wynyard today in Wynyard, the Huskies got on the board in the first quarter thanks to young gun forward Summer Lee and never looked back after that. Wynyard was held to just the two behinds the entire game after scoring them in the first quarter, the Huskies never allowed them to get any chances after that. Glenorchy would go on to win 8.2.50 to Wynyard 0.2.2.

Alexandria Hallandal had a day out, she had 70 disposals and booted four goals while Matilda Thompson keeps racking up the disposals having 51 of her own. Bella Watson (47) and Erin Muir (42) were also solid for Glenorchy. For Wynyard Emma Neal was their major ball winner she had 37 disposals while Emma Tanner had 35 from full forward but the Glenorchy defence made it hard for her to get any balls inside 50. She was forced outside 50 while the Campbell sisters went to work inside the 50.

Recruit Tayla Morrissey was relatively quiet at half back, but she did enough to keep the Stingrays forwards at bay with Lauren Linton also doing her job well. Jasmine Graham also managed a goal in what was a low scoring game but a 48-point win to Glenorchy to see them start the season very well with three wins on the trot.

The only downside for the Huskie was that Naomi Henley went down with an injury, it’s believed to be a quadricep contusion, but the medial staff will need to assess her. She went down injured in the third quarter of the game. Glenorchy next play Devonport after this big win and will hope to keep their momentum going at home. While Wynyard who have lost their last two games will be at home to the Claremont Thunder, who got themselves a massive win this weekend crushing last year’s Premiers 116-33.

Bridport got their second win today after holding off a fast-finishing Derwent Hawks side to win 9.4.56 to 6.4.40. It was a tight affair all day, the Seagulls managing to get on the scoreboard early thanks to Isabella Reeves and never gave up the lead the entire game. Catherine Kupsch was a tireless worker for the Hawks, she managed to kick 3 goals and had 67 disposals for the game. She and Lauren Mainwaring both finished on the same disposals while Kupsch managed two more goals than Mainwaring.

The game at Boyer Oval was a hard slug, both sides started with a flurry with Bridgewater kicked 5.2 while the Hawks ended the quarter with 4.1. The Hawks were only able to score two behinds in the second quarter, while Bridport managed 1.1 to get a small advantage into the half time break.

Tara McDonald kicked an early goal in the third quarter to help kick start a mini revival, but the Hawks couldn’t take advantage of that as Hallahan and Murray both kicked third quarter goals to help keep the Hawks at bay.

The last quarter was a tight one, with both sides having their periods of dominance but not managing to get much of that on the scoreboard. Reeves booted her third goal and gave the Seagulls a bit of breathing space before Richards kicked her second goal. Stokes bobbed up and kicked two goals to see the Seagulls get home by 18-points at Boyer Oval.

Isabella Reeves also had 30 disposals for the Seagulls, Parker DePrince with 57, Brittany Hallahan enjoying her new role with the Seagulls had 47. Over at the Hawks, Tara McDonald had 55, Amanda Richards 44, and Sarah Cullen 39.

After back-to-back loses the Derwent Hawks are back on the road heading to Latrobe to play Latrobe, while Bridport will battle last year’s runners-up Bridgewater at home. Both sides are currently undefeated winning all three of their games so far.

Latrobe will hope to bounce back with a win after their loss on the weekend to Brighton, the Panthers still trying to find their feet in the new competition but haven’t ben far off a win except for their Round 1 clash with Claremont.

The National Women’s Football League are pleased to announce the formation of the Fitzroy Lions women’s side to join the newly revamped league in 2025. With speculation around the formation of the side going on for weeks, the NWFL have officially announced them today.

The Lions will enter the league at the completion of this season and will look to build their squad over the next few months to bring their side into the league next season. The NWFL are expected to add some more sides into the league as their looking to expand further into the future.

It’s also believed that a new side from Adelaide and one from Tasmania will also be entering into the NWFL next season, while this hasn’t been confirmed or denied nothing is yet to be set in stone for the coming season.

Currently the Allies All-Stars and Fitzroy are confirmed for the 2025 season.
