Image-driven, like most bands. Will download a sample of their music though, as to not judge a book by its cover. A couple of my friends like them so yeah.

Old stuff is definately better IMO...but City of Evil still has some very good tracks worth checking out.

Unholy Confessions, Chapter Four, I Won't See You Tonight Part 1 and 2, Second Heartbeat are some old tracks worth checking out

Sounding The Seventh Trumpet is Ok.

Waking The Fallen is a GREAT album.

City Of Evil music wise is fantastic but his singing gets to me a bit, I heard his voice is stuffed so he struggles to get to the same vocal level as he did on Waking the Fallen.

If you like Avenged Sevenfold you must listen to Unearth, Devil Driver, Mastadon, Trivium etc. New bands with old school metal elements. Or you could go older school with bands like Firewind and Nightwish.

Yea go the METAL.

I recommend that you get the Roadrunner United - The All Star Session CD. Heaps of the artist signed to roadrunner getting together to record an album to celebrate roadrunners 25th anniversary. There is a good mix of Metal styles on that album.
It's always interesting to see what happens when dudes from different bands get together to record.

You may not like Firewind & Nightwish they are power metal tyoe bands but I can almost garantee you will like
Unearth - The Oncoming Storm
Trivium - Ascendancy
Mastodon - Leviathan
Devil Driver - The Fury Of The Makers Hands

I would suggest looking at those albums first before checking out there others.

If you are into other forms of metal/ hard rock type bands I have some other ideas if you are interested.
