G'day,

Am 19, studying full time and want to move out to be closer to Uni. Just trying to get some info on my expected expenses. If I rented a house with three other (four in total) what would you expect our water/gas/electricity bills to be? I have a good idea for internet/phone so don't worry about that.

Thanks for your help.

Running on about the preferred 150L per day per person, water is about $10-$15 per month max (per person).

Can't be arsed digging out the power bill, but do your research online if you can get a choice of provider (ie. moving into a new share house). I'm with Australian Power & Gas and they have some stellar rates and have shown good service (for a utilities company). Energy Australia was my second option. The rates on TXU/Origin/AGL standard plans are in the Bigpond "ripoff the ignorant" realm.

Thanks mate.

Share house with 3/4 people the power bill would be similar to your parents, no?

I have my own apartment and it costs me 140-150ish for a quarter. It's not that expensive but it comes down to air con and heating use really. If you've got a house full of people and the heating or air con is being cranked up 24/7 that is when it will get expensive.
