Worst live singer....EVER
I cant believe it, her song is ok. This performance on rove and other live ones I have seen totally shocking.
Sounds like cats fighting.

Yeah she is terrible live...really makes you think about how good the studio can make an average singer sound. It also makes you respect really good live bands or singers so you know it's not all about the studio. Example...check out Jebs live if you get the chance, better live than they are on the albums.

Jebs really rock live if you even only like a few of their tunes I really recommend you go and see them at any chance you get!

And oh yea Avril can't sing but then again she's obviously a daddy's girl trying to be some kind of queen of punk look what that did for Pink, who can't sing live either.

Heard an interview with her on a local radio station here and she sounded like a spoilt brat. Shes got a huge attitude problem too

Amazing how they can make anyone sound good nowadays

I'd say (without having seen any of these appearances) she's a good actress.

I thought she was good.

She was being herself

She is not a plastic princess like Brittany.

She actually snag live which most people don't do on TV. Her accent really comes through in her singing.

She was writing and singing folky type stuff when she was discovered by the record company. They saw potential but suggested she spend time with their stable of songwriters. The guy who wrote much of her album has songwriting credits for the likes of Sheena Easton and Barbra Streisand. It's just another giant con to fill the market of kiddies who are over Britney.

Man, she really sucked when she sang live. It was a shocker!
The only thing that saved the interview was when the koala came out and she smiled for once, although I don't think she paid Rove much attention once it came out.

I think I'd find a koala more interesting than Rove to speak to aswell.

The girl has only been in the country 5 minutes and she has already picked up on his lack of personality.

Smarter than most Australian TV viewers.

She was shocking live! Mind you I don't like her music after it's been dubbed and made better. She looked like a stuck up brat with her legs crossed over on the chair, her hair flying into her eyes all the time and she didn't really give a damn about the interview until the Koala came on.

Oh mann...I've been in canada for a few months & she's like a pop diva out here always hangin out at the coolest clubs but I have to agree that when it comes to live performances she totally spoils the show even when I saw her perform here in Toronto.

I can't believe the total lack of talent people are getting famous with these days. Two summed up perfectly in this thread.

"Studio Magic Voice Enhancer"

Such things exist, believe it or not. One popular program is called Antares, which is pitch correction software. It automatically adjusts sharp and flat notes being sung into correct key, in real-time. Most people wouldn't be able to tell when it is used on a record, though I have heard a demonstration of it and ever since I have been able to hear pretty clearly when it is used.

It's all over Avril's album. If you listen to "Complicated" and hear her voice distort or clip at any point, or sound slightly robotic, then it is most likely being pitch corrected.

A friend of mine recently recorded a song with an ex-Bardot member, for use in an ad. He says that the singer in question asked him if he had Antares in his possession before she agreed to work with him.

dude, she was flat as all hell...couldn't hit a note. emotionless in an emotional song is not good. She Needed to put feeling into music, isn't that what it's all about?

yep, ur right. these days it's pretty much standard to use it. Some artist such as Silverchair are proud that they don't use this and state this on their albums.

It is often used even on excellent singers as it makes it perfectly in pitch as no one can be.....but however music is sposed to have natural imperfections that is what makes it more interesting. If we didn't have these imperfections it would all sound computerised, like unfortunately some music is and sounds.

Too true. Take note Creed, Linkin Park etc ad nauseum.

It must be just me.

I may be tone deaf.

I love Roxette as well.
