Why didn't Collingwood use its "away" jumper against Carlton? (the heritage round jumper from last year - white black and black number)

We wear black and white stripes. Anything else isn't Collingwood and I hope like hell would lead to carnage at the AGM.

The heritage jumper is still black and white stripes, but it's the old style with the white back.

It being predominantly white as opposed to predominantly black means that against a team with a dark jumper like Carlton it might make it a little easier to tell them apart.

Not that it worries me anyway, I reckon if every player on the field wore a plain whtie singlet with plain black shorts, I could still tell our boys from any other teams', based on face, hair and body size.

the jumper the guy in the AFL shop tried to tell me was the real one (it is the training one obviusly, has a sponsor across the front) should never be used. imo the only jumper collingwood should wear is the current one and the inverted colours one (the pre-2001 one).... i don't really like the idea of teams changing colours even though we did during WWI and 2002-03....

We haven't changed it in over a 100 years. Why start now?

Define "changed"? Yes, we have had generally black and white stripes, but they have changed in thickness and order over the years.
To be honest, I think that an away jumper gives a team the chance to produce something that is different, and wearable outside a footy field. you can experiment with shapes, designs, etc., and best of all, the supporters then buy two jumpers a year instead of one. Its a win-win.

It wouldnt actually bother me if we had a totally different away jumper. Like different colours and stuff. It works in soccer, so why not footy?

For those that like tradition and stuff, we will still have the normal black and white for home games, so i cant see the fuss.

First and foremost this is not soccer. The Collingwood Football Club wears Black and White and nothing else.
That said tho I do like the heritage jumper of last year as an alternative still B&W and still Collingwood

Yes, I'm talking about the black and white striped jumper with a white back that the club wore for all home games in the 1990s, and in the heritage round game in 2004. I was under the impression that it would be returning full time as the away jumper this year, so why didn't we wear it against Carlton? It would go better with the white shorts, and the black back with the black shorts.
