I sent a friend request also.

I actually play a somewhat balanced game. As soon as I get a kill then I haul arse to base to heal up and cash in any solar that I pick up.

sweet, i'll accept later tonight when i jump on

i've never played a game like this before although recently have been watching my fiancés brother playing a similar title on pc called super monday night combat which i thought looked pretty sweet

http://www.pcgamer.com/review/super-monday-night-combat-review/

i'm sure after a few more practice matches tonight after the footy i'll have worked out some better strategies and class set ups as well as trying out different characters to see which work best for me.

i'm always super attack oriented and feel i'm quite skilful with a controller though in a game like this where it looks to be a constant tug of war i think staying on the battlefield for as long as possible will be far more effective then quickly running in and doing as much damage as i can in a short amount of time then dying and waiting for respawn....just chipping away at while being in a constant forward press would be far more beneficial i'm thinking.

So I just gave it a go after Camo's raving about how good it was.

And I just have to say Camo, by the looks of it, you haven't gone online? Just the practice rounds?

If so, there's no chance you'll be able to play as aggressively as you think/or do playing offline.

So I decided to jump in about an hour or so ago, went through the tutorial, had a practice match that lasted about 15 minutes. Thought I was good enough now to go online.

Went online...and got completely and utterly destroyed. My first offficial kill of the match wasn't until the last 30 seconds and that was while throwing everything at the opposition when they were seconds from destroying my drill. I think I went about 1-10? So yeah, DESTROYED!

To be fair, I was up against 3 real players and had 2 bots on my side, so there could be a difference if I'm teamed up with guys that know their shit (add me guys: HBK619 - may head on tonight during/after the footy/after HT if it's a blowout). But you simply can't be an aggressive or attacking player right off the bat, because you're way too underpowered.

Reading through the IGN review and I think the guy has it relatively spot on. Even though I've played the 1 game, I can see this will take a fair while to level up to the right levels to have enough health/strength/abilities, etc. to be able to compete at a high enough level against those that have given the game a good run through already. So it'll definitely be a fair grind before you can really play as you want to.

The guys I was up against seemed to also be strangely extremely well matched. There was one guy that had a melee that slowed me down, he would just go apeshit at me as often as he could (and the ability to slow me down meant getting away from anyone let alone this guy was made even harder). One guy had this jetpack thing so he could shoot me from far away and from all angles. And the other was dynamite and mid range shooting.

Apart from what I can see will be a very steep curve before it becomes really truly genuinely fun and enjoyable. The game is very fun. Has a fantastic art style, good game mechanics, responsive gameplay, could be extremely tactical.

Personally, the game that this reminds me of the most is Fat Princess. Has the same cartoonish art style and the gameplay is all about small wins and sometimes just grinding it out.

I think you really have to alter your gamestyle, depending on which character you choose.
Some you can go all out aggressive, but others are definitely better for taking out the turrets/bases.

It's the worst when that happens :thumbsd:

Added you as well.

Clunk is a beast for killing players. I just went 11/2 with him.
There's an ability that cuts down on the self destruct cooldown right? If there is then that and the damage bonuses (and reduction of damage taken from it) would make a good Clunk player a beast.

And wow, Yuri kinda breaks Ribbit IV with laser upgrades. There's a couple of points where you can hit the enemy turrets with your laser but the turret will just hit the wall when trying to shoot you.

There is definitely one that reduces something. It's either the cooldown or the time before you "respawn" if you die. Can't remember.

The bite move he does as well is really good. If you put it with the ability that it increases your maximum health per bite you do, you make yourself so OP. You can use it on the droids, as well as the little creatures that give you healthy when you kill them. So you can just walk around getting heaps of health.

You're pretty dedicated using Yuri :p I raged after using him once, haha.

I'm dedicated because Monkey, Laser, Jetpack. I've said it before and I'll say it again, that's the greatest combination going around.

On another note, the developers are actually planning on releasing Awesomenauts on steam also.

I don't know how you can handle it. No matter how great the combination.

I wonder when the "more characters coming" part at the character select menu will be filled with actual characters. I feel there should be more, doesn't seem to be enough variation. I only really like using Lonestar and Clunk. Used Leon a few times today, but his horribly low health annoys me.

Those guys we just played, caMo, were easily the best I've played against :p We got destroyed. I got some junk time kills though.

3 splitscreeners are always gonna be ridiculously hard to beat in a strategy type game when we can't talk (missus is asleep for me and i don't think you have headset?)

they seem to be able to take me out in a matter of seconds....is that cause they have better abilities or what?
i understand more when i'm outnumbered 2 on 1 etc but i have nfi how one on one i can die in just a matter of hits from them when i can hit them equal times and they still have 3/4 health left

also that froggy guy is freakon USELESS! basically no health and his attacks are SO WEAK!

Yeah, but these guys were damn good. haha. Nah, I don't have a headset.

I think those particular guys were a really high level, so they knew how to play the game well. They obviously maxed their abilities too.

Yeah, froggy is shit. I went him maybe twice, but then didn't bother again. Lonestar or Clunk for me.

Also, as an aside, screw you Uno and that god damn copy of Leon move. The amount of times that got me...

Haven't got PlayStation Plus...how much does this one cost? Looks interesting.
It's $15.05 for regular PSN shoppers.

And as you saw earlier Igloo, Yuri can be pretty effective. When you're bombarding enemies with mines and staying way out of range then he can do a fair bit of damage. He's got two major problems; he's about as tough as a paper bag and Lonestar or Froggy G can take him out of the air pretty easily.

Im using Yuri now. Im sort of liking him this time around, mainly for the laser, and the flying.

Get owned badly if someone catches me though.

geez i'm terrible at this but it's still a lot of fun!

the thing i'm having trouble with most is way over agressive still (die a shitload!) and i have nfi which is the best way to level up the guy.....

lonestar is pretty obvious to up his dynamite asap but then what?

time flies playing this.

i'm not sure how long it will keep pulling me back for more but it's nice to look forward to having a jump in quick fix game to play now that doesn't infuriate me

I noticed with you that you mostly stayed out when your health was running a bit low. Whenever I start to get a bit low, under a comfortable level, I bail. Either teleport back, or run back. Or if there are the little creatures that give you health around, kill them. You might still die a bit, but it will reduce them significantly.

With leveling abilities, it's a bit of trial and error. Obviously go for the one you use most, or whatever you find is easiest, and after that just go for what else you use.
With Lonestar, I do dynamite first, and throw in some of the increase bullet damage ones.

I agree on the not getting infuriated at it. Good game to just have fun with, no matter how well you're doing.

Been using Leon a lot lately, and he has taken the mantle of my new favourite. Slices up enemies when you get the strength and speed of slash to full.
