It appears that Haddrill will play seniors this week, thus our backline will shuffle along to new positions. I reckon Mr Parker will be seen to give Haddrill a big hug and kiss (very out of character) on his return.

Assuming JLo is fit, who will be shuffled out of the side for Haddrill?, and will 211 be brought in to lessen the work load on JLo?. Maybe Siegert will go out, plus maybe Johnson?. Keep Smith in?.

It would be a great opportunity to give a few young kids a game this week against a young Magpies outfit. That's not to say they should be taken lightly. The Robbie change goes without saying, but I also think Murphy and Sandilands should get a game.

For mine Johnson, Schammer and Webster could all easily be ommitted from the side, bringing in Haddrill, Murphy and Sandilands.

I really don't know what's up with Schammer, he's lost a bit of spark. He should have came back via the WAFL, sending a clear message to the rest of the side. Has he been tagged out of the game or is he just not performing?

I think Schammer is a little under done and agree that he should have came back through the WAFL.

I was listening to 3aw last night and Gerard Healy was asked if anyone could remember a team with such an inexperienced backline at thid level. He commented that there was a first gamers, a third gamer , a fifteenth odd gamer etc with Action man and Grover holding it together.

Even Wally Foreperson commented yesterday that He wasn't sure that the mob up the road would be able to cover as well having key personal like Polly & Sir Robert not available.

I like the look of those changes wombat. Bring in Sandilands and even if JLo does play, we could ruck Sandi for the second half if we've got a handy lead and give J Lo a break on the bench or forward line. Parker should play on Tarrant this week and Lloyd next week even if Hadrill does return. Tarrant does a lot of running and Parker seems a good match up, and Parker was very good on Lloyd in the second half against the bombers last year after he had the better of McPharlin and Hadrill in the first half. Parker is very good on the athletic full forwards (as we saw against Fevola), it's the giants he struggles against (Neitz, Hall, Richo, Sav).

Schammer hasn't been playing well and a run in WAFL might be a good idea. He returned from injury the same week as Headland and Matt Carr missed through injury so you can understand why he was brought straight into the side. We were desperate for midfielders with Bell and Hasleby also struggling at the time. Bell, Hasleby, M. Carr and Headland all played well on the weekend so a couple of weeks at Claremont would probably be the best thing for Schammer. I think his arm still isn't 100%. His tackling hasn't been very effective since returning, with opposition players easily escaping his grasp.

I agree to point but I believe we need another tall defender, the pies will play Fraser & Cloke forward so we need to keep Johnson in.
In Sandilands, Murphy & Hadrill.
Out Schammer, Webster & Siegert

Johnson got worked in the ruck no doubt, but the fact remains I still believe him to be a better player than sandilands.
Johnson also I thought did a good job in the backline and has pace, surely if you were going to persist with one it would be Johnson.
So Sandilands is the tallest guy in the AFL and mobile, he cant mark, all the top ruckman are excellent marks.
I would be tempted to bring Woods back in purely because he can play ruck too and is also a good mark

Definately no Woods.

I'd rest JLO.

Forget the Tigers game.

Some years ago a coach developed a winning GF combo around a backline. Generall kicking goals was left to anyone who happened to be in goal range. Wingmen, followers, center with a couple dedicated forwards but no real forward structure. All the brains where around the HB Flanks.

CC seems to be proving a team can win by doing the opposite . A couple of dedicated backmen with untried players comming in and out. Remember the 'no name back line' a couple of years ago. Sure when it turns bad it can go real bad (thornton/rocca) but generally just by mangling the incoming ball seems to be enough as long as your runners can mop up.

Doing a backline shuffle is a great way intruduce young players. With haddril back this week (?) with Parker and Grover we can run any amount of players in the other positions. Thes guys should from our young brigade. Mundy, Smith, Thornton, Dunn, Webster, Dodd, murphy or Gilmore. Not for me to pick who.

Our engine room is the most important piece, and I think CC has got it nearly fully tuned.

Rotating one of our HBF off the bench and through the engine room gives some one a chance to really show there goods. eg Mundy, smith or dodd.

Rest Jlo keep MJ, siegert and give 211 another run. We will need Jlo more in the weeks to come.

I'm not fully convinced with elvis at FF. His 30metre plus kicking is suss. But i reckon he's like the bird in a game of 500. ie. He will win evertime.

McPharlin kicks like a backmen, we just have to show him how to do it properly.

I wouldn't rest JLo if possible, I don't think Sandilands could handle Collingwood on his own.

for some reason I am quite anti-woods... I don't know if it was watching a man of his size step out of a contest. Someone give him one-on-one tutoring with cook. Either that or use a paintball gun to shoot him while he trains, that way he will know pain is a part of football that can not be avoided.

I

I seem to remember tredrea being a terrible kick early on in his career, kicking can be improved and taught.
Reading the ball in the air and outmarking multiple opponents cannot.

No probably not.

But there is 21 other team mates out there.

Nevertheless if our wins revolve around one player we have a real problem. We have done Ok covering for Hadrill and Polak. No disrespect to pies but this is an oppurtunity to see who takes the step without JLo.

As long he is taking marks in the goalquare or close to it, who cares? :)

And the only reason why i'd bring 211 back is if JLo isn't fit. Otherwise:

In: Haddrill
Out: Schammer (Hopefully he can get 25-30 possies in the WAFL)
