Hi all,

Don't worry, this is not a troll. I just wanted to say that Carlton were dead unlucky yesterday. Although, I was obviously glad to get away with the win, I thought that your boys put up a great fight. Both sides had opportunities to put it beyond doubt before the last quarter but just failed to capitailse.

On a personal note, I wandered along to the game by myself. In the end, I happened to sit with a group of Port supporters on my left and a couple of Carlton supporters on my right. With all the crap spouted about feral supporters, I was pleased that both lots were quite friendly during the game. Credit is due to the Carlton supporters though who, after the final siren and whilst I was celebrating the win, tapped me on the shoulder to wish me well and congratulate me for backing the right horse on the day. Those guys have my respect and demonstrate what Aussie Rules is about.

Anyway, I will not encroach upon your space any more. Good luck against Collingwood and best of luck for 2006.

I'm extremely happy with the win, because carlton played like a team that was much higher up the ladder than they are (that is meant as a compliment)

This old bloke sitting behind us in the Ponsford stand... Carlton supporter and he just bagged the ******** out of every player playing for Carlton.

Especially Campo, he just kept bagging him. Dad turned around and told him to ******** up because Campo has put his heart and sole into the Carlton colour for 10 years.

And this bloke was dirty on Carlton for losing... what more do you want. We have a crap list, we are playing last year's premiers and we had a red hot dip. Damn site better than losing by 60 points everyweek.

As you say that this is a genuine question, I will answer it in the same spirit. Yep, I do occasionally post on other boards congratulating opposition teams who have defeated Port. It depends on the game. If it was a particularly good game I will do so. If it wasn't, then I won't.

In this case, my reason for posting was really to share the fact that I found the Carlton supporters sitting next to me to be pleasant people and good sports. I thought that this might make a bit of a change from the usual whining about ferals amongst opposition supporters that seems to occupy much of this site (mostly on the General AFL board).

To those of you who took my post in the good spirit in which it was intended, thanks.

Same here, a high profile Carlton figure sitting behind me giving them crap all day long, that is one thing that I will never do, publicly scream at our players for making a mistake (excluding p1ss poor Houlihan efforts, lol :D )

Well I can say bad luck Carlton and you guys (given your position over the last few years) gave us a real run for how money... especially early with your intense tackling and pressure... as I followed Carlton in the 80s and 90s before Ports inception.

I imagine both groups of supporters would get along rather well due to both clubs being very traditional clubs (save the arguements about the different leagues). I think supporters from the traditional clubs (Port, Carlton, Essendon, Collingwood.. and maybe even Richmond at times) get along the best and have the most respect for one another for their accomplishments and longevity.

Cheers
