What can you do? Honestly, the last month for me has been horrendus, haven't been playing bad at all but I just cannot catch a break. It's been well documented on Bigfooty.
I don't know what to do anymore, I've had a break , I've kept playing , don't know what to do anymore.
It always seems as though someone always has the nuts against my good hand. I.e I have a straight he hits a house.

I've been on a bad run for a few weeks.

One thing you need to do is take a break, and come back confident in your ability. When you start doubting yourself, and questioning whether maybe it's been your bad play that's cost you money, then it acts as a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy and your play does suffer.

For example, when you're on a bad run and low in confidence, you get a bit of 'they must have the nuts syndrome', and underbet pots when you're ahead, allowing drawers to catch up and beat you, which further slaps around your confidence.

The cards are fickle, but don't change your game.

Taking breaks is probably the best advice. Also, if you find yourself doing bad in a game, quit, go do something else, and come back fresher and more focused.

If you're taking bad beats and going broke, there's no point rebuying into the same game, cause you're likely going to be tilting and/or playing bad.

About a month or so ago I was playing 1/2 at Crown, lost a buy in and a bit, and just wasn't feeling it. Went to see a movie, came back out and sat down and did much better. Had I kept playing I surely would have went broke.

Yes take a break. I didn't play for about 10 weeks late last year. Read books. Play tight. Concentrate. Observe. If you don't feel it, quit (or leave, if it's a live game). Go play Casino War if you think Poker is bad!

Up the aggression. Slowplay less. Know the players on your table. Who bets and raises, who checks and calls? How strongly do players bet? What hands do they show down?

And if all else fails, scream obscenities at the top of your voice.

And my bad run continues.

I'm sitting there last night at home playing online, wired on coffee and unable to sleep, making sure to play ultra tight. I'm getting nothing, stealing the blinds to maintain my stack just above its starting size, and then I pick up AQ of hearts.

Last to act preflop, everyone's limped in, so I raise it 200 over the 50 chip big blind, making it 250 all up. I get one caller. I've been playing ultra tight so I figure he must have a high ace also to call me, maybe AJ or A10.

Flop comes 5, 6, 10, 1 heart.

Wary of the 10, I make a 120 chip continuation bet just to suss out if he has the 10. He insta calls. Turn is a 3 of hearts. I bet out again, making an attempt to to take it, with my high cards and heart draw. I know I really had no business in the pot, but the guy didn't convince me he had anything.

River comes, another blank low card. Didn't make my flush. I'm sitting there with ace high and I check it, thinking that maybe he does have the 10 and isn't going to budge. He checks behind me. And shows 7 5 offsuit. I nearly fell off my chair.

Ugh... casino war. What an evil, evil game. I hate it more than blackjack (though I can't stop playing blackjack).

Wow this is getting ridiculous, even the free-roll world hates me. Playing a 150$Freroll 2.5k people about 550 left.

I'm looking pretty decent get delt A 8o, I'm SB so I see it for the BB.

Flop 8s 9h 8h - I bet 3.5k , One caller.
Turn 8s 9h 8h 9c - I bet 10k, she calls.
River 8s 9h 8h 9c Jh- I push, she calls.
She has? A 9o.

Lol.

I finish 545th.

My advice is just to play ultra tight and be patient. Worse thing you can do I think is play even more then usual. Play less and when you do play be conservative until things turn around

Online poker especially is bull********. You go on runs where all you get is 5-2 6-2 7-3 etc and then pocket aces, kings, ace king, pocket jacks etc. They really need to fix it to make it more believable.

When you play live and the shuffling is good then you should be able to catch a good hand every 5 or so times. If you don't then it is just unlucky but you should just be patient as it will defenetly turn around unlike internet poker where you don't have a clue what is going to happen.

Don't play BJ at Crown - the 8-deck Shufflemaster machines are designed to deliver clumps (check the patent filings sometime). That's why you get tables of players going bust-bust-bust hitting 9s and 10s and the dealer gets 4 rags in a row to make 20 or 21. It's very scientific and very clever, and definitely adds to the house edge.

Tigernuts

Edit: I'm not saying they deliver non-random cards, they do, but the randomness is skewed by the order in which the dealer places the used cards and by the shuffling mechanism. It is the skew towards high or low cards that influences the play.

I got to around 200 in 3 4500 player freerolls over the weekend.
Played very tight probably folded 50% more than I should.

Got done over by some plonka who has 10's and 5's to my K's and fives who then gets a 10 on the river.

The last one almost blew my gasket, when this pillock calls my 12k all in bet on trip eights. One heart on the board and the biatch has 2 3h. 2 hearts on turn and River and bye bye me

You're right about one thing, you don't have a clue. "If the shuffling is good you should get a good hand every 5, if you don't it's bad luck". Give me an eff'ing break. You have stats to back up your comments that online poker is rigged?

It's called variance.

I have 108,040 hands on record on PokerTracker. Now anyone that knows anything about probability will know that the larger your sample size, the closer to the mean occurance random probabilities will be.

Now let's take pocket pairs...on average you should get pocket Aces (or any other pocket pair) once every 221 hands. So I'll share my stats with you...I can expect to get pocket aces somewhere in the vicinity of 489 times in 108,040 hands.

Here are my totals to date...

AA - 476 times
KK - 517
QQ - 492
JJ - 541
TT - 494
99 - 507
88 - 460
77 - 475
66 - 493
55 - 508
44 - 488
33 - 492
22 - 507

All very much in the ballpark. Where are your stats to say online poker is rigged? Just from observation? Yeah because the human mind is so good at picking up probabilities through observation.

I've gone through stretches where I've got AA about 5 times in 20 minutes. I've also had stretches where I haven't got them for over 1,000 hands. It's variance. Variance.

Anyone who says online poker is rigged is just being an idiot or they don't understand this concept.

Bad runs happen. With bad players, the bad runs are worse, and the good runs aren't as good. So if you run bad more often than you run good, and you've played a tonne of hands...you probably just suck.

It also comes down to how you handle the "bad runs". Obviously if you're losing a lot, you need to either work on your game, or work on your focus, or whatever it may be.

Yeah exactly. Everyone plays worse when they're losing, and everyone loses more when they play worse. It can be a bit of a cycle. However, when people start blaming their luck and everything else in the universe on their bad poker results...they're most of the time just bad players.

If you're a good player, and you're playing good, it doesn't matter if you're winning or losing. Everything will even out over time.

I LOL'd reading all that.

Online poker is def. rigged. What other conclusion can you draw if your most common pocket pair is Jacks? That must suck!

I was thinking the same! I've been playing them lately like they are sevens.
