The team had not won in its previous 9 Test Matches and previous 3 Ashes Series.

Excitement and happiness is to be expected. But press conferences disrespecting the opposition, poor sledging thats easy for the public to pick up (The good sledgers do it in a way where the public wouldn't even know its happening).

Australia plays the premier side in world cricket next month and then India on home soil in 12 months. If they are good enough to win those 2 series they perhaps might start to have a right to be arrogant like the sides of the late 90's early 00's.

Their are 5 players (Clarke, Haddin, Johnson, Harris and Siddle) who can lay claim to being bonafied test cricketers so this side has a hell of a long way to go especially considering they could all be gone with in 2 or 3 years.

Shut up and play cricket.

The good sledgers didn't have stump mics

I guess you're one of the guys who claims that the Windies never sledged or intimidated their opponents.

I play footy and cricket myself at a poor level but I also love the game of soccer. I'm having ago at the Aussie team not the sport.

Bloody oath they did. Where did i say they didn't and where did I say sledging was bad. I'm referring to Clarke's pathetic sledge and Johnson standing mid pitch for 2 minutes after he has bowled the ball.

Is this a troll?

I mean the behavior of a lot of professional sports people, media& entertainers, & politicians comes across as arrogant at times. .

During the ashes the on field stuff was highlighted by the media who only like controversy & agro behaviors. So they zero in on the worst things they can find. They were very selective over what Clarke said to Anderson. We should here it all on the field, or none at all.

Conversely, I thought the media went easy on the Barmy Army who really were rude displayed inflammatory behaviors. I mean if we went to England & sang derogatory songs & said we were supporting our own team, the shyte would really hit the fan!!!

Talk about bad winners & bad losers, they take the cake.

Sounds like you've got a few Agendas against Clarke and Johnson to me.

I'm not questioning how good Clarke is as a bat or how well Johnson bowled in this series either even if it was against a mentally shot side. Clarke's captaincy is horribly overrated though.

Supporters are irrelevant, I'm talking about the players and I figured many would disagree ( I must admit I thought a few would agree). We all have different opinions and thoughts on issues. I just think for the whole series the arrogance and talk has not been warranted from a team who up and until this series had been poor.
I could never personally go for a side no matter what country they were from containing Clarke, Watson, Warner and Johnson.

Suit yourself. Personally I think you are looking for something that hasn't really been there because (as you've stated yourself) you don't like a few of the players as people.

I love the way Lehmann has moulded this team into an aggressive, hostile, ruthless team ON THE FIELD.

Warner's comments early on regarding Trott were probably the only time they have come close to 'arrogant talk' off the field all series, and that was long before they had it wrapped up. The 11 Australian cricketers have shown plenty of respect to their opponents, which would of been tough given how pathetic they were.

As an aside (not directed at OP): People love to judge players based on how they personally feel about them and it annoys me a little. An ideal example of this has been the number of British pundits and fans (and a few Aussies) who have lauded the performances of Rogers this series while in the same sentence claim Warner is nothing more than a ODI player who performed poorly. They like Rogers and hate Warner but their performances this series have been equally as effective. Its self-righteous and a bit churlish IMO, jealous schoolboy stuff.

So singing Broad is a wanka (which I have no problem with) is fine yet harmless banta from the barmy army is bad ?

Actually some of the songs sung by the Barmy Army are 100% racist going by the public messages we are given at every cricket ground in the nation.

When did Australian fans have ago at Broad's family members?

Have a go at Johnson for bowling shit. It's part of the game.

Having a go at him because of the problems betwen his mother and wife is disgusting.

You said the supporters are irrelevant. What has this got to do with your topic?

You are disappointing me, I like your posting on all things AFL. But this is coming across as extremely English. Particularly your post on the quality of our players and the captaincy of Clarke, which are also nothing to do with the topic you started.

Its coming across as an allmighty whinge mate.

I'm man enough to admit Clarke is a class player and Lehmann's personality and philosophies have transformed the mood of the side.

IMO 5 players are good (or better) test players and they are Clarke, Haddin, Johnson, Harris & Siddle. Rogers is 36 and in my worthless opinion will be found in SA as a player who gives his all but lacks the attributes to be a good test player. Warner has done better then I predicted but he is yet to change my mind that he is a long term player but a good series in SA will certainly make me eat humble Pie. Watson is in his 30's and is still picked on potential. I think Smith can play but he still to loose against good bowling early on, if he can gain an appreciation for where his off stump is and nab the odd wicket he will be a good number 6 for Australia. George is a great bloke but not good enough unfortunately.

This rant has nothing to do with their cricketing talents, it has to do with their demeanor.

Thats the point I'm trying to make. What supporters or Journos say has no impact on these thoughts. This is my opinion on how they go about their business. Its clearly an unpopular opinion but one I think that is reasonable.

You will look back in time and be embarrassed about this post. Especially as a man who has played the game.

Its not a tea party, its international cricket and it is words and posturing. Toughen up, it didnt bother Anderson.

How many batsmen have actually had their arm broken by a fast bowler anyway? This sort of chat has happened for ever, Clarke was just unlucky to be picked up on the microphone.

Warner comes across as a complete goose and in years gone by I completely despised Warne
I more have issues with the continual boys club commentators on nine who get on and just talk about how good they were
Taylor, Slater and Warne are the worst for it

This rant is ENTIRELY to do with their cricketing talents!!! It comes across as sour grapes and does nothing to support your argument that they have been poor winners. Nothing.

Again I have no problem with sledging but thats just crap IMO. Also channel 9 was poor because thats something kids shouldn't here. As i said I have played the game at a level which is far below test level but a level where i have played with/against state and the odd international player and these thoughts may not be as rare as some may think.

So you have no problem with sledging but you have a problem with sledging?
