Does anyone own / play the bagpipes? I recently purchased a set with the intention of teaching myself how to play them. They are an awesome instrument when played well, probably won't be so awesome to anyone in the area when I start playing though :D

Ever noticed some of the best Aussie songs involve a bagpipe solo?

It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock "n" roll.

having strong Scottish heritage, i'm a fan of bagpipes. But only when played properly.

I myself don't know how to play them, but i'd like to know.

How are you going on your pipes?

Love them.

Bagpipes make me want to start fighting.

I can see why they got warriors going into battle all fired up.

Scots are real friendly and jocular but fierce when roused.

My Scottish family are from Coldstream.

The Coldstream Guards are the longest continuous regular serving Regiment in the British Army. Since 1650.

We don't think any family fought in Guards though for a few hundred years as we were Jacobites, tied to Clan Stewart.

From the lowlands near the border? I think there was a big battle there with the British, one of many before the great scattering.

Mine were behind Stewart, we might have lost in the end but never should it be said we went down without a fight. :tearsofjoy:

It's an interesting, if pretty grisly history, if you open a thread I will check in. We don't want to derail this one.
