Ball names Jackson Paine and Jamie Elliott as new recruits who are set to make an impact on the senior side this season, and nominated a forgotten star of the 2010 premiership as the man who may make the biggest difference of all to Collingwood’s fortunes in 2012.

Big Wraps for Paine and Elliot if Bally likes the Look of Them
I think Brent Macaffer is a guy who was forgotten about last year. He had a tough year with injury and he’s training really well. It’s really good to see him back out on the track.

“I think he was such an important player in 2010, especially toward the latter end of the season and in the finals with his big strong body, his pressure skills down forward and his ability to kick goals.

“He’s one guy I’m really looking forward to seeing step back into that forward line.

Intresting Observation there about Macaffer

I highly doubt Elliot and Macaffer could both fit into the team. With krak and fasolo cementing their spots.. plus blair/sidebottom we got small forwards comming outa our ears.

Elliott & Macaffer are very different players so I don't see why they couldn't play in the same team. Macaffer is 187cm, takes a strong overhead mark and can play both ends of the ground. I think Macaffer gets hyped up quite a bit on this board but I still see him as a best 22 player when fit.

There both undersized forwards who are good at overhead marking and are mainly there for their pressure, i dont see how they are that different. Plus we already have a surplus of players around that small-medium height to rotate thru the forward line

Well Macaffer is 12cm taller for a start...

:p

From what I've seen of Elliott (which isn't much) they're not that similar, but even if they are that's a good thing. The more players we have in our forward line who can take strong overhead marks, kick straight, know where the goals are and also apply pressure on the opposition the better.

The forward line doesn't only need talls.

As for Elliott and Caff, one is about 178 and the other about 187 that alone makes them vastly different. In addition Caff has a very strong body which enables him to compete with talls, Elliott wouldn't be able to do that.

I love Luke Ball. One of our finest recruits ever. The man is all class. What I do not like however is the rumors surrounding krak being several kilos overweight since returning to training. Very disappointing if true and really needs to look at a player like Luke to see what professionalism at the top level is all about.

Here is a photo of Krak form training today, hard to tell exactly but he looks in decent shape.
