Lets talk about our bank management and whether setting MAXIMUMS and MINIMUMS is a realistic possibility.

I am not one for staking plans such as martingale or fibbonachi or anything too flamboyant where you are punting a LARGE % of your bank on a single bet.

Since I bet STRAIGHT OUT and Exotics in the same race. It does pose an interesting question as to how much should be punted and the reasoning behind that amount.

Should there be two different banks for WIN/Exotic punting? Do we need to set a limit per bet, or do we look at the picture of per race?

How do we know what is the right amount and how do we know whether this amount reflects the VALUE in the bet?

It is easy to say 1% of bank per bet. But lets face it. That is not realistic. And not many have the patience to undetake that. So why set rules you know you won't follow?

So lets be realistic. How much is too much and how much is too little and what influences us to place more $$ and less $$.

0.5% minimum 1% norm. 2% confidence. 5% per race.

What is confidence? Well that is subjective. When you have a $1.10 rated favourite you are more inclined to be confident that you can find the winner in that race compared to a $2.50 rated favourite. So it makes sense to have more $$ on your $1.10 race.

0.5% minimum. Because we know it is HARD to study a race and then not place a bet when there is no value.

5% per race. Sometimes there are an endless amount of combinations that you can place. Up to 50 bets have been placed on the single race for myself wagering different amounts on different combinations. But there has to be a limit so you are punting not covering.

BUT this is where the problem starts. The smaller your bank, the less likelyhood you have of covering the suggested combinations your program spits out because you have less money to spend...............

Although if we have such a small bank. We should focus on the simple things. Like picking winners at OVERS. And ignore the exotics........ or should we......punt exotics hoping to grow the bank in one foul swoop.

Confused yet?

If you are confused as to what you want with your bank management then maybe you shouldn't be punting to win. You should punt to have fun.
