Can someone with good knowledge of rules explain the correct procedures involving runners? Anyone know which rules Barnes actually broke?

My thought is that all clubs had 2 runners, which they used to bring messages to players. Each runner can only spend a certain amount of time on the ground before they have to get off. Virtually just deliver the message, then get off and bring the 2nd guy on with a different message.

Barnesy would deliver the message to the given player, but then would talk to about 5-10 other players before he got off.

I'm pretty sure that's what he did, but just watch Fox League Teams and hear what he has to say.

Fine now suspended.

The AFL's excuse is gold...because the AFL didn't tell Essendon about the fine apparently from the Carlton game, they can't apply the fine for a supposed second offence on this occasion.
