Just seen this article on news.com.au and thought you all might be interested in seeing it :) Nothing in it so far but a rumour but to me it would be a great pick up for GWS

Barry Hall will be a Greater Western Sydney player by the end of the year if the same whispers that predicted Tom Scully's defection to the Giants many months ago are to be believed.

Would be a fantastic acquisition, and he certainly proved in the final rounds that he can still play. Very much doubt it will happen though, he doesn't look like he wants to play at all anymore

Played 15 or so games in 2011, and the last 5 he was filled with injections. Not sure how his body could cope with another season, or how many games he'd play.

Not sure what GWS would have to do to get him, either! Pick him up in the draft?

Highly unlikely to happen, but if so, would give the GWS mids a huge forward to kick to.

GWS officials are adamant they have heard nothing from Hall's camp to suggest he would renege on his retirement.

Obviously they would say that.
Would be good to see him play next year.

Given that you've already nabbed Ward, you'll have to trade for him.

That could be problematic for you guys, unless we are willing to be friendly about it, which I doubt.

He'd be a great pick up to you blokes though, and I doubt that any dogs fans would bear any ill will toward him.

We only have to trade for him if he's not delisted on your first list lodgment. Otherwise he can be prelisted as an ex-AFL player, similar to what we wanted to do with Power, Cornes and Brogan.

Is Barry still contracted to the dogs? How does it work if he isn't still contracted?

I would have thought it would have nothing to do with the bulldogs so there would be no compensation?

EDIT: Nevermind, dlanod answered the question :p

Dogs have already said there will be no delistings until after trade week.

Why would we let him go for nothing when we can make you trade for him?

No, but he is still on there list until trade week finishes.

Indeed, and he isn't. Thus, you have to make a trade for him.

It is in our interest to trade him. At least we will get something this way (prob a third round, or later), and by the time you guys are competitive he wont be there. It really wont hurt us to let you have him, and given that you have to trade it can only benefit us.

Also, a late trade wont mean much to you anyway, truth is you'll probably have a full list by the time you get to that pick.

I see this situation as a win win for everybody. You get an experienced, and most of all marketable player that the Sydney market is familiar with, and you dont really lose anything. We get a free late pick. :thumbsu:

Cant complain with that.

I'm not sure what position GWS will take. If they are interested (nothing but a rumour at this stage) they might be hoping for the prior delisting, as mentioned. If he isn't delisted then GWS may just pass. If they are seriously interested, then it may be a Brennan-esque situation where the Bulldogs agree to let him go and get a third round compo pick, or just a straight up trade where we trade one of our late picks

Kicked 37 goals in his last 7 games this season...

I wouldn't mind seeing him up here for a season and then to potentially stay on in a coaching role.

1. Can still kick goals and be a key target up forward.
1a. Can still draw the opposition's best defender.
2. Is widely known in Sydney, would help to pull in a crowd.
3. Could provide mentorship to Folau on the ways of the key forward, especially when/where to lead and where to position himself. Folau's on-field personal coach?
