Bartel expected to be fit for Cats
---
GEELONG coach Mark Thompson expects midfielder Jimmy Bartel to play in Friday night's match against Essendon at the Telstra Dome.
Bartel, who has been in superb form this season, was concussed last weekend against Sydney and had to spend a night in hospital.
Thompson said while Bartel had some headaches earlier in the week he now seems well enough to play, although he will face a fitness test on Friday.
"At the moment he's in (but) it's a day-to-day thing. Today he was really bubbly, bright and alert," Thompson said.
"There was a little bit of doubt yesterday (but) that's gone today. He might come in tomorrow with a few problems.
"We're just going to have to wait probably until Friday to see whether he's really clear and sharp."
Thompson also said the planned return of Essendon's Adam Ramanauskas on Friday was a great story, with the Bomber's premiership player having twice beaten cancer.
He said he wished him well in his return to football and said it would be an emotional match on Friday night, considering both Ramanauskas' return and Essendon champion James Hird playing his 250th match.
"We prefer Hird not to be playing his 250th this week but unfortunately he is and we just have to deal with it," Thompson said.
"Naturally they're going to do everything they possibly can to win for him and we're going to do everything we possibly can not to let that happen."

Reminds me of watching The Decline of Western Civilization part 2: The Metal Years. All those metal band members who were NOTORIOUS for using drugs professing not to know anything about it.
