I noted somewhere thathe averaged 12 possies a game to date which isnt too bad for a kid....but he is certainly yet to hit the high notes that Bowden has through the journey so far

Round 5 2002 vs Fremantle champ.

Look it up.

How many high notes had Bowden hit in his first 2 seasons?
How many brownlow votes?
What were his average disposals per game?

His highest notes would have been singing before his balls dropped.

PS I think Richo would still walk into Tassies state of origin side.

Which Tasmainian wouldn't??
Are there more than 22 running around in the AFL?

Peter Street would be your starting ruckman FFS.

Bowden averaged 17 in his 2nd year (1997) & 20+ every year for 6 years since.

Long way to go for Bartel to be anywhere near that.

Seth.

I would also suggest that the Bulldogs would part with their pick #4 for Bowden. It probably would be worth our while trying for pick #1, but this would take extra - I would expect the Bulldogs to have their eyes on Cooney and won't let that go easily.

It would have to be a package of Bowden and someone else of quality for the Bulldogs to part with pick 4. I couldn't see a straight-out trade happening. Maybe Bowden and Ray Hall would be a fair trade, or Richo and a 4th rounder.

As for #1, good luck, unless you want to part with Mark Coughlan. We've earmarked Cooney as a 200-game player already

I honestly reckon you're onto a fair deal there, Dogman.

Richo and a fourth rounder (~60) would be a fair trade for Brown IMO.

The thing is, the Tiges need a player with a bit of flair, who can do some scoreboard damage. We have plenty of blokes who can take a strong grab inside or outside of our forward fifty. We need some bite within 30 metres from goal.

The Bulldogs position on the ladder in 2003, however, belies their actual strength in goalkickers ... Johnson, Smith, Guido, and even Darcy and a few of your younger mid-sizers all seem capable of bagging multi goals on their day.

What the Bullies appear to lack is a large marking target across CHF to free up Grant on his return (maybe the backline, or even an Alistair Lynch kind of role awaits him on his hopeful return to form in 2004). Bandy seems to have slipped dramatically in that role, and some youngsters like Harris etc. may not be ready for the job at CHF yet.

Such a trade seems to have benefits for both teams.

As for Richo's history of injury. Well, most of these have been flukey type knocks ... not your long term wear and tear type stuff like Carey and Kernahan had suffered. In fact, the many games Matthew's missed over the last 10 years or so might be a blessing in disguise - his body probably still has 6 or 7 years left in it, taking him up to 34-35 years of age. Whereas I'd give Carey one more ... at most, and maybe not even that if he hadn't taken last year out of the game.
