Basic Footy!

I enjoy watching good footy and tonight I saw great footy played by Carlton agst the Bombers. They would have been written off big time once there was no Kouta/SOS/ Braddles or Allen playing BUT basic footy won them the match (and possibly an over confident Bombers contributed!)
Getting back to the basic footy though - each player took a man and they were accountable for that man plus the second efforts when they weren't in control of the ball were exceptional...the tackling, smothering, shepherding they were desperate and the team.... to a man, gave it their all for 4 quarters.
This is the way I'd like to see West Coast play. Wayne Brittain said they stressed the importance of valuing every possession and it showed. I hope our boys watched that game tonight & can take something from it. Player for player the Bombers looked stronger on paper but it just goes to show what attention to detail can do. Very impressive!!

Well said Broome. I saw the game and it was just back to basics, you have a man pick him up and beat him. And that is what they did, hardly any Essendon players got any room all day which they usually get and i think that ruffled them a little. I hope Judge shows the game to the boys, and says play like that!

If the Eagles were treated by the Umpires thike Essendon were we would all have been screaming for blood. Essendon were robbed by the maggots.
