I think for striking Headland or it may be charging

Didn't think there was much in it myself to be honest

He is not a dirty player and his record should help him you would hope.

Was that the one where Headland was knocked to the ground? (although I seem to recall Burton being the spoiler there  )

I couldn't tell from the replay how Headland was struck, it didn't seem to be from the spoiling arm, just the body.

The one you are talking about happened on the outer wing/hf where Birdmans knee got Headland in the hip.

The actual report was in the second quarter. Headland marked about 40m in front of goal and Bassett was a tad late and collected him. A bit like Tarrant in the WC grand final when he collected Reilly. Although not as bad IMHO. Once Headland hit the ground Longmuir came over and there was a bit of push and shove.

So my memory wasn't playing tricks on me. ;)

Thanks. I still don't remember it. Might have a look on the tape - which quarter was it?

If Bassett played for Essendon, going by the Fletcher and Cupido non-reports, there wouldn't be one little hope in hell of him being reported!!!

The incident was an absolute non-event - nothing in it.

Which means being a Crow they will suspend him!!

The inconsistency and the unfairness of the umpires and reporting is really annoying me! This might be a really naive comment of mine but isn't there something somebody can do?!?!-the Crows are copping a really unfair deal at the moment. I agree with your comment that Bassett probably will get suspended simply because he's a Crow whilst Cupido and Fletcher got off last week which was really dodgy in my opinion.

The umpiring yesterday was in a word atrocious. I know I'm sounding really bitter and angry but this is me venting after our loss yesterday grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I only saw it the once, during the game, but it looked quite bad I thought. Does anyone else think it is a tiny bit similar to what Cloke did to Edwards? Not that it was as hard, but similar in that he was going for the ball (not that I thought Cloke was ;) ) and just...missed.

2 weeks I think. :( :( :( But if Gehrig gets suspended, then we're even! :D

You think he'll get two weeks?!?!? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO thats all we need, Perrie has just come back from suspension and now we'll lose another valuable player out of suspension too like our injury worries aren't enough! Let's hope its only for one 'cos i think he'll be pretty valuable against Sydney.

It looked pretty similar to the Carr - Ling case this year. If Bassett was playing for a Victorian team he would get a week or even get off. Based on the Cloke and Carr incidents I think he'll get 2 weeks.

If Bassett gets suspended it will be one of the most ridicilous decisions of all time. I think there was nothing in it. I might have to rewatch that incident again.

Here is yet another person agreeing that there is inconsistency and bias for the Victorian teams-who exactly makes up the tribunal and what can be done to make it more objective and fair?

Just watched it on tape. Now I know why I'd forgotten it; it was right in the middle of the Freo second quarter onslaught. I've been trying my best to forget that over the last 24 hours or so. :(

I must say, from the front on shot, it didn't look good. Bassett's arm came in after Headland marked it and he floored him.

I thought the same thing, except Bassett collected him with his elbow rather than his fist.

For starters I think there is a real problem with players being forced to give evidence via a video link rather than appearing and defending their case in person.

Bassett should be going over to Melbourne to defend it for a start.

I know alot of the players from SA go over and defend themselves in person but they are still not getting acquitted

It does not look good for the hound dog.

Adelaide should start thinking about who will come into the team for him, anyone think Parker is a chance?

The Hound should take Smarty over with him to help cross-examine the umpire.

Nah, we still have McGregor, Smart & Hart who can play on the talls. Rutten can play back to with Carey & Welshy returning to help out Sarge. Hope Bassett gets off as he is a good match up for Sammy.

If Basset gets suspended, it would be a huge loss. He has been sensational lately. In next 3 weeks he is a perfect match up for
Hamill
Hall
Haynes

He would be a huge loss. If he does go I would expect Rutten to be switched to the backlines. Parker might be promoted at the end of the year. I will have to see it again but my first impressions are that there is nothing in it.

Then maybe in the following three weeks he can play on Holland, Harding, then um... go up forward to play on Hardwick?

:p
