I see one of Bazzas goals, last week has been nominated in the goal of the year
comp. Did not see it,as unfortunately,i had to listen to game on internet. Do remember commentators getting exicted about this goal. Tried to view on Afl
site, but Big Pong, wont let me. Was it great or what?

well he ran bout 30 metres without bouncing so shouldnt have been a goal anyway

that's right, he ran i think 19 paces, according to a commentator....it was a great goal, but probly illegal....
but made me think of that goal from the previous week, that obnoxious scrote brent staker's goal-of-week nomination when he made a similar run but almost punched schneids in the face to get clear and kick it...should not have been allowed, and wouldn;t have been if big baz had done it, certainly not at subi....bah humbug!

It also made me think of Mark McVeigh's goal from when we played them which was also nominated. But yeah, it happens. Barry probably did run too far but they allowed it so that's all that matters in the end.

Anywho to answer your question bradmanstandguy, it was an exciting goal. He shrugged 3 (i think?) tackles to kick the goal. I watched it again yesterday and i think i remember the commentators calling it a 'gem'.

I reckon we should give the umps the benefit of the doubt and assume they paid a free half way through his run for one of the tackles slipping slightly high.;)

That would have reset the distance run to zero.

Anyone notice Barry's body lanuage after kicking a goal this season? Doesn't seem to get as 'pumped' as in previous seasons.

well he seemed pretty pumped after the goal in question, with his usual arm flexing 'look how muscly I am' thing. By the way, if that goal showed anything, it revealed his groin seemed to be holding up ok. he was twisting and turning every which way.

That goal looked completely fine at the ground, and he didn't cover much distance, but looking at the replay he did have it for a while. But personally I'd rather see goals like that paid in that situation, and reserve the "too far" call for players who are taking the footy up the field, rather than spinning in a circle and never moving more than 5 metres.

Amazing isn't it??? This would probably be the first time this season where an umpire has had the chance to ping Bazza for an iffy free and chose not to. Particularly amazing considering Rayza was one of the vermin officiating. Let's hope there is more of it.:thumbsu:

That's called a 'PUMP IT'. You know the goal he kicked in the last quarter of the 05 GF? Well his pump it after that is known as 'THE PUMP IT'. The second pump is ROK's from the 06 prelim after he kicked his last goal in the last quarter. Me and my sister this year have been hoping for Barry to wear long sleeves and then pump it and for his sleeves will rip open.. lmao. Maybe that can happen in the GF after he kicks us the winning goal!

I'm surprised that they didn't ping him, the umps ping Bazza for everything else. :D

Let's just keep the Bad out of it.....he's been a good boy.:) Tell you what though imagine the Big V forward line with Baz and Browny charging through defenders with a fend of to the chest!!!:D Magical but terrifying

Yes that would be great.

But hopefully most Swans will abstain from SOO due to "soreness" like 2/3rds of players used to do every year in the old days. Sorry if this upsets the Victorian fan base, but I'm a Home and Away man and I'd rather they were fit in September than crippled in some meaningless exhibition game.

Lest we forget Crouchy breaking his collarbone in Ireland. :thumbsd:

what do you call davo's swinging arm fist pump after, i think, his third goal against the cats in the 05 semi? the one where he kicks it from 40m as he falls, then gets up and chucks the fist pump and the lleyton "C'mon" as he gets to his feet.....still sends shivers up my spine

It shouldn't been a goal from Brent Staker, neither should it be Halls. BUT last years 06 qualifying final against the Eagles, Hall shoved off Glass with the same move as to what Staker did to Schneider. Funny how Hall got a free kick against him... so you're right about Hall shoving players away.
