We have another outstanding ruck prospect in Beeck. I have admired Cox all season; however, my one criticism of him is that his taps rarely go to one of our midfielders. Last year, the Gardiner - Cousins combination was being touted as the equal of any in the old VFL - Farmer/Goggin etc. Countless times the ball would go down Cousins or Judds throat.
In the last quarter today, Beeck showed he has this ability too. In getting the ball to a midfielder, Beeck was superior to both Cox and Seaby which poses the question. Should Beeck be our second ruck to Cox, allowing Seaby to develop into more of a forward?
Did anyone else notice how good Beeck's taps were?

Wasn't bad for a first game. Equal most hitouts with Cox - 8. We were beaten in the ruck today, one of the few times this season. Beeck didn't show much up forward but looked better in the ruck. Still, I'd rather have Seaby have spent more time on the ball.

Beeck didn't do much up forward, but that is the same when he plays for East Perth. However, play the video of today's game again and watch his tap-work. It was really excellent.

Was pretty happy with Beeck- had minimal time, and is clearly not entirely physically AFL ready, but he was pretty deft when he went near it- had some nice touches, and his tapwork was pretty sweet.

I wouldn't put him ahead of Seaby in that regard though- he has played some exceptional games ruckwork wise- for example, watch the job he did against Stafford and Ottens v Richmond- was winning it and placing it exquisitely.

Gee we're loaded with ruck prospects :)

It makes me wonder what the Eagles coaching staff's plans our for all our ruckmen? Where do they see Gardy, Cox, Seaby and Beeck fitting in?

I guess in some ways it will depend upon Gardy's return from injury but I'd love someone to put the question to Woosha at a press conference.

I wonder if they are playing Beeck to get him some trade value for the end of the season? If he shows a bit we may be able to attract a similarly developing KPP in exchange. Clearly he is a different sort of ruckman to Seaby and Cox, but he is still a long 4th in our ruckmen rankings IMO.
