Rumour is Mat O'Sullivan has retired.
Story is, doesnt have the desire anymore.
A few members have said ,"No great loss"
I think he leaves a big hole up forward.
Thanks for the memories Mat.......of those 10 games.

The big boy did retire after a couple of injury / attitude interupted seasons. Can really play when left at full forward but his attitude is pretty ordinary if asked to play out of position, dont really think Belgrave knew what he was capable of doing if he got his tail up. Was looking really fit at Christmas and was talking of making a come back. Should kick a few if he decides to pull them back on.

As long as he keeps quiet against seville i will be a happy man! :)

Has been cleared to Powelltown for the 2007 season. Interesting to note the number of clearances away from the club since being relegated which include club legend Bruce Painter - why has this happened?

The appointment of the two co-coaches last year turned out to be an absolute disaster. The recruitment of Connolly and some better playing stocks should hopefully result in improvements, abeit in the lower division.

Big changes both on and off field are what is needed at Belgrave and it looks like they may finally be making progress as it wasn't too long ago the club was making progress in Division 1 and looking like it had established itself.

Wasting his time going to poweltown. They will strugge to field 2 senior sides, and what blokes they can get will be to old, too fat and no where near what they had a few years back when they were playing finals football. Without thugs like DeGraf, Iakano and Jimmy Dean they will be nowhere. Upwey will be the team to watch with big Vinny heading back and looking for another 100 goal season:D:D:D

I hope powelly go alright and get back into some good footy, nothing better than car pooling up to powlley and having pissed blokes making you pull over every 20 mins for toilet stops:)

The pretty boy is always in good nick. I would be more worried about a fragile attitude, ego and body. I give him 8 games max.:D

Story I've heard is that after the disaster of 2006 season Bruce put his hand up to coach the seconds this season and was under the impression that the job was his. Somewhere between the end of last season and preseason this year the job was given to Greg Ison. Apparently he found out from somebody in the street not the club, and has since vowed never to set foot inside the place again. Pretty ordinairy that a bloke that has played something like 500 games at the place gets treated like this!

Ordinary stuff if true - Bruce is a legend of the Belgrave FC and Yarra Valley footy in general. Maybe considering the past few years it was time for a change but perhaps it should have been handled better. Bruce is now playing for Ferntree Gully reserves in the Eastern FL at the ripe old age of 40 plus and still getting a kick and handling himself ok.

A great man and certainly loves his footy. Belgrave will also be missing his wife who was a tireless worker behind the scenes.

Both clubs are struggling so far. Powelltown have had 2 home games and the bye and were beaten by 30+ goals each time. They did play 2 of the better sides in the comp but apparently have a lot of young players in their team. Seville talked themselves up all preseason and got a new coach and a couple of recruits but have lost all 3 so far. Belgrave beat them by 10 goals, Yarra Junction won by 8 goals and Alexandra on the weekend beat them by 20 goals.

We (seville) will be allright...got powelly this week and should hopefully get the much needed first win of the season. All of our "gun" recruits have gone down with an injury and NONE of them will make the trip to powelly. The loss of James "wiggy" Quilty has been very obvious and he has proven very dificult to replace. Mulchay has been good up forward after being promoted for kicking 8 in the 2's round 1 and some of the kids playing their 1st/2nd year of seniors have shown promise. SHOULD come good and win enough games to make a finals appearance and maybe cause an upset or 3!

Slug i hear you guys have recruited a guy called Tommy Kite from the North-East who was a big show to get drafted a couple of years back but broke his leg, how does he go?

Powelly have done unbelievably well to come back after going into recess and are even fielding Netball teams. Is certainly a struggle at the moment for them but things can only get better. Most clubs disappear into oblivion when they go into recess so to get back up off the canvas is a great achievement - hopefully on field success comes soon for them.

I remember going to the footy at Powelly many many years ago - was certainly an interesting place but the hospitality was second to none.

I also do commend powelly on coming back from the brink of extinction, but they really need to attractsome players. Playing there yesterday and a lotof the guys playing seniors, were guys that played 2's a couple of years ago and were getting beaten by 30 goals.

As for the hospitality....certainly a different typeof feral sitting on the hill yesterday
