With all the talk about failures in the past seven week, we seem to have an opinion that we need major changes for our squad. The player we have are good enough they just need to produce week in week out, They can win games they just need to make some positive decisions. When we get the chance for a shot inside 50 they need to go back and take the kick, at least we would have a scoring chance.

I am sure i can teach the players to never miss another shot at goal for the rest of their careers, simply do not shoot, we just don't score, our players need to believe that they are good enough, not cocky, and if need be make positive mistakes not silly mistakes. I have read in other posts some players turn the ball over with poor disposal, then we need to reduce the number of times we handle the ball.

I feel sorry for our forwards as we do not provide decent supply for them. Big Otto needs the ball sent in his direction early so he can make a 1-1 contest.

The season is not over by a long shot we still have plenty of time to make the necessary adjustments, yes Bomber needs to make some hard decisions about players but these players need to make the most of possibly their last chance to play a senior AFL game.

The future will take care of itself, we should not be playing for early draft picks we should be playing for now and let the draft lottery take its own course.

Geelong needs is players and supports to be positive not setting in panic because this is what has created the problem on field, panic or lack of skill either way things can change fast in football. But if we do not make a stand now we will never have the respect for ourselves or for the club.

Just my thoughts

The Geelong Emotion Calendar Round 3 2006 - ????

Gameday: Hope..which is then crushed two hours later
Monday: Repression caused by relentless gloom - calling for heads to roll
Tuesday: Guilt for calling for heads to roll, searching for positives
Wednesday: Realisation - Oh that's right..we're 5hit this year
Thursday: Optimism. The weekly call for belief as the boys gather for selection night
Friday: Utter disbelief. They didn't pick so and so and so and so got a game again....leading to

Hope! :)

Seeing as it is Thursday and I'm feeling optimistic, I'll select the Cats to upset the Weagles by three goals this week. The circle of life goes on Simba.

hmm, doesn't exactly inspire me - this season is shot to bits, clinging on to the fading hope that we might even sneak a spot in the eight is a bit too blindly optimistic to me - faith has been put in Thompson and the current group of players for 7 years now - Bomber has become our second longest serving coach in that time and despite what many consider a strong list (I think it's be over-rated - we're just a good ordinary side who were playing good hard footy for each other 12 months ago ... now we're just ordinary) we won't be making a meaningful tilt at this years premiership (no matter how much faith the supporters show !)

I don't know about *major* changes to the squad, but I think there's a lot of work to be done before we're in a position to challenge for a flag (again)
- the forward line is a shambles, the defense has become more and more leaky, and the midfield lacks polish and ticker.

I seriously hope there'd be fewer than 4 or 5 'untouchables' at seasons end, because really, they've achieved nothing out of the ordinary as a group.

I also do not agree that 'panic' started the rot this season; we were *way* ahead of ourselves and got bitten not once, not twice, but 4 or 5 times now ...

I have no doubt Bomber and the boys will *try* to 'make a stand' before the seasons out, but I just don't think they're good enough to make anyone else really notice ...
I'm personally sick to the stomach at the thought of another year and no flag, and if there's one thing I can't stand it's the 'she'll be right/things'll sort themselves out' attitude of some Geelong supporters - it's that kind of half-arsed attitude that the permits opportunities to go by every year and allows mediocrity to fester at Geelong.

Ahh, the Cursed One!!!

So true, so shamefully true.

We suuuuuuuck!!!

Doesn't mean I'm not gonna go to the games, just means I'm not gonna put money on em to win.

All these folks who reckon we're gonna win...put a fiver on it at the TAB. You'll walk away with 15 if we win.

But you won't.

First step to fixing a problem is recognising that the problem exists. Seems like only 50% of cats supporters have made that leap.

So sad.

It wouldn't matter if 100% of the Cat fans knew the problem exists as we aren't in a position to fix anything.

Brilliantly said. Could not agree more. That's why *******s like Gardiner are still on our lists when it's patently obvious he will never make it. It's also why Thompson is allowed 7 years in charge and we're no closer to a premiership.
