Ben Dowdell

This guy was recruited under the "alternative talent" rule, having played basketball in the USA. He has impressive physical attributes, being 203 cm and 100 kg, and a mature body at age 24. I understand he has been playing for South Adelaide.

Can anyone give me an update on him? How is he shaping up in terms of aptitude and attitude? Is he likely to figure significantly in our lineup in the next 2 years?

Any info appreciated.

As far as I know, he played SANFL reserves most/all of the year, where he got a lot of hit outs, but not a lot of the ball around the ground. More than that I honestly couldn't tell you.

He's one guy in particular i'd like to see have success. Seems like a real character from his tweets.

He played a few league games, I think he played all of the foxtel cup games, as NTR said he gets loads of hit outs but I don't think he cracked more than 10 possessions in a game, so at this stage a bit of a Matt Clark type, hopefully he can play league most of the year, he looks to be a good athlete and skills weren't to bad for someone of his size.

you can find his stats here. looked in and out of the sides, grew as the year went on, low on disposals but south have a similar guy in bass who's a touch more experiences.
