This is one of my favourite movies af all time (Charlton Heston Version), and to see this be murdered in a modern day CGI fest is just too much.

Probably because the 1959 film was already a remake of the 1925 film.

What do you mean all female cast?
I thought this was a full on remake.
Although remaking that classic which was almost flawless is beyond me .
the Heston version was really quit ahead
of itself in its production, and realism.
Probably the best thing Heston ever did in his life.

So whats the real thing about this remake.

Some thing that sticks to history properly with the fiction fitted in.

But all they do is remakes!

Well the simple answer is that due to the GFC they are scared of losing money on original ideas that may flop.

Hence the sequels and remakes of an already profitable IP...less risk of them losing money when the film's IP is already established and has a fan base.

It's really about risk vs reward rather than about art these days.
