Ben Marsh's last chance?

With Westies in the GF and plenty of scouts from the AFL watching the game I feel Ben Marsh has his last chance of making it in the AFL.

With several AFL clubs looking for another ruckman, if he plays a big game he could easily find himself with a team like Essendon, Collingwood or St Kilda.

It seems like the Crows aren't keen on playing him anymore. I don't know when his contract ends but if it did this year then I'm guessing he'll be traded/delisted.

If he has a dud GF then he could be destined to spend the rest of his career in the SANFL.

What other players do you think have their big chance to shine in the GF?

Let's hope Marsh has a huge grand final to attract the interest of another AFL club.

I'm pretty sure his current contract with AFC runs out this year.

One game doesn't save a career

I know I sound like a broken record but unless we get a ruckman in the trade period, that is actually capable of playing AFL straight away, then Marsh will stay on our list

It will come as no surprise Stiffy that I disagree. If AFC get offered anything for Ben Marsh, they shouldn't hesitate for a millisecond in taking it.

I think we will have to agree to disagree on this one Kane but AFC would not be doing their job if they only had 2 ruckman ready to play AFL on the list next year. As crap as Marsh is, the fact of the matter is that we don't have better and unless you want to destroy a young blokes career by playing him when not ready, we have to keep Marsh.

If we don't get someone better than Marsh we are stuck with him for at least another year.

Why do you think Crows are after Lade??????

The Crows would be better off playing McGregor, Perrie or Stevens in the ruck if we got desperate than Marsh, who is not up to AFL standard.

I have confidence that AFC have seen the light & will get another ruckman or 2 to enable Marsh disappearing from our list (then we will be both happy!)

Thats robbing Peter to pay Paul. More negatives than positives out of that move.

Not necessarily.

Ideally would have:
R: Biglands; FF/CHF Stevens, Carey; CHB/FB McGregor/Bassett

Would prefer Perrie in ruck to Marsh in the absense of Biglands/Clarke as you know he will give 100%.

If we had to ruck McGregor, Smart/Rutten/Hentschel Rutten could play CHB. Only a slight adjustment to our side.

If Lade is the only viable option to get rid of Marsh, then I would agree to it ... but other options must be explored 1st.

Marsh will only go if we can get a replacement for him, and that's final cos I said so .

To suggest that Perrie/Stevens/Carey/McGregor/Bassett are a better alternative is pure fantasy. This is one of THE major weaknesses of Adelaide. We have no ruckman who can play KP and none of our KP can ruck.

Ideal solution would be to trade Marsh (for a homesick South Aussie) and pick up Lade or better as a replacement.

Hold onto Marsh for one more year and then handball him Richmond for Ottens As long as Schell gets shown the door soon I will be a happy camper

Kane, Stiffy and I aren't Marsh fans. Far from it. We despise him as much as you do.

The only difference is that we accept that the club has to live with him until there is a genuine (not a makeshift) replacement.

I appreciate your POV, but I don't believe in keeping duds just for the sake of their height. Would you keep someone on at work if they were worse than useless? I wouldn't & would prefer to go 1 man short until we could find someone better. I would prefer to gamble with 2 youngsters on the rookie list.
