Yo, LACROW back to haunt the airwaves of Bigfooty... and you thought you were rid of me! :)

Hey, I was just reading up on some of the threads here and I wanted to know what everybody thinks of Ben Rutten. IMHO, the guy should be given a real shot at FF this year. I mean, 4 goals from 5 touches last year? C'mon, if that's not productivity I don't know what is.

It seemed like the guy had reasonable enough pace and could take a good mark, so I'm curious to see if anybody else shares my view that he should be given a real shot at FF this year.

Thoughts?

He has a shocking pace IMHO. One of the slowest players going around. If he had Perrie's athletisism and pace, Rutten would be just about a regular player in our side. If he is to make it at AFL level he will have to improve his mobility and pace.

I am hearing that Darren Bradshaw is very unlikely to stay at Westies in 2004. If this is the case I think its safe to assume that Ben Rutten might be playing majority of his footy as a FF for the Westies, especially now that Westies have drafted Pettigrew who will most likely play CHB.

I don't think Rutten will get too many games in 2004 unless he improves his pace and mobility a great deal. Apart from these deficiencies, Rutten is one very good footballer.

Totally agree young Stiffmeister. I hope he has spent time with a running coach this summer because he certainly can play and has a real go, just lacks pace and mobility.
