Im over living off the hype of the game against Fremantle. Wonnaemirri has been torubled with Injury and cant break to the Casey First side. However Bennell is improing out of sight, i love the speed and agility of this young gun. Watched the Melbourne vs Brisbane game he was lsipping and dodging his way out of a congested pack all game.

Re: Bennell Over Wonnaemirri.

Too early to discount Wonna. We've barely seen a season from him ffs. Yes at the moment you'd take Bennell over him, but the reason Wonna 'can't break into the Casey First side' is that the coaches are easing him back into it. No point in having his hamstrings blow up if they tried to rush him back into grade 1 football.

Lets have this discussion in about 2 years time when we can make a fair assessment.

Re: Bennell Over Wonnaemirri.

Wonna has a "X" factor which Bennell doesnt but should have, not saying Bennell isnt exciting he is, just less exciting than wonna. Bennell has the advantage of being in the team atm. Playing forward pocket at their "Bests" i would take Wonna. Bennell can play in more positions, eg. wing, down back.... which also adds to this argument... will come down to the rest of the tam at the time, form, what position is vacant

Wonna did far more than have one good game. I'm surprised a Dees supporter can forget what he did just two years ago. He was pretty much our only shining light that year. Bennell still hasn't done as much as Wonna in 2008 but has shown he could also be very good.

If Wonna can get his body right he will be an awesome player for the Dees. He has great skills and such heart; I'd take him as a small forward over Bennell. It looks a big if on his body though unfortunately.

Let's hope they are fighting for a spot in the team for many years.

Play them both. Bennell last week was pushing up toward the wing and being dangerous there. Wona usually plays abit deeper to goal. I reckon there are spots for both of them in our forward line.

Agree with this, when we're still considering putting blokes like Miller & Martin in the forward line surely these 2 arent competing for a spot!

Definitely spots for both on our forward line, but if we could only take 1, I'd take Wona. Benell although adds pace and pressure, he doesn't add scoreboard pressure. Wona has the ability to do both pressure and add goals. Might be a case of adding Benell to our midfield/wing in the future. The pace he has is a real asset going forward. I think he's a bit loose down back to be a defender, but I like him around the F50 arc. Hopefully Wona can get fit and him, Jurrah and Benell play together in our F50 later this year. That will be exciting...

You're half right. Wonna isn't having problems 'breaking' into the Casey firsts, he's on a controlled recovery program designed to gradually increase his fitness and strength that will (hopefully) solve his injury issues.

Just wanted to point this out.

Wonna will never play again, if h does I'll be shocked. I've damn near given up on him personally, he's injured ALL THE TIME! :(

Except he's been playing Casey reserves for the past few weeks, will go to Casey seniors this week and be back in the red and blue in the coming weeks.

I'd love to see em both in there. Reckon Wonna, Bennel, Jurrah, Watts, Petterd all fit and at their best, and one rotating spot, would make a pretty freakin unreal forward line, also capable of applying plenty of defensive pressure!

Bennell is a half back flanker or wing man. He's ok up forward but I'm confident its not his best position. He's just their because he's our best option at present and its a chance for him to work on his game at AFL level.

Wona on the other hand is such a natural reader of the play and dangerous forward. He can also create goals hence his record of goals/games back in 08. He's competing more with Maric, Jetta and Tapscott.

Much love for both of them, but Benell>Aussie.

Bennell is super underrated.

Wona was set to play Casey seniors last week, but they didn't want to send him to the Gold Coast. They wanted to keep him in Melbourne where they could keep a close eye on his game.

Mark my words, unless he gets injured again, he WILL play in Rd9 against Port in Darwin.

He will most likely play close to a full game for the Casey seniors this week, and depending on how that goes might be in for the Dee's against West Coast. He has been unlucky with injuries but so have many others players over our history....David Schwartze anyone?

Aussie will be back with a vengeance!
