Bit of a surprise on Brockman - thought he looked OK. Poor old Gerard has been up & down more times than a brides nightie.

i think it sucks that leigh brockman has been delisted

i can not belive they have delisted leigh brockman he was a great player he was playing well in first grade i think it sucks they always delist the guys that are playing well thats all im going to say on this topic

bennett and brockman

i think it is totally unfair that those 2 players have been delisted. neither of those players, gerrard or leigh were injury prone and they definately had a future at the swans.
i know the swans have said they won't delist any other players, but considering as the draft stocks are limited, i don't really know what they expect to achieve by doing this, delisting 2 players that had great futures.
leigh had a really good season for port melbourne and was playing really well when he made his debut for the swans, dumping him makes no sense to me whatsoever.
Gerrard had also been playing really well, trying really hard and he had a lot of potential

I think we have to look at this from a different perspective.

Firstly Port Melbourne form means nothing. If you are not doing well in the seniors, then you are not cut for AFL level.

Neither of these two have done much, and they are both getting a bit older now. They were Geelong discards in the first place.

Now the Swans want to be challengers for the flag. They have to ask themselves the question, will these type of players get us a flag? The answer is no. So they were dropped and we may draft more or we may pick up someone else (Saunders??) in the preseason draft.

bennett and brockman

my only question is considering how weak the draft is meant to be this year, what was the point in delisting anybody including bennett and brockman?

The draft as a whole is suppose to be weak. That does not mean that the top 20 will be weak.

Sydney will take their picks in this draft, and they might draft a young player in the pre-season.

I do not think that Bennett and Brockman are going to help Sydney to a premiership, they are getting to the age, where there hasnt been enough improvement in their game to warrant their place on the list, and they certainly will not make the Swans a better team.

Bennett was great in the first two rounds, playing loose across half back. Indeed, he took 12 marks in round 2, and had about 36 possessions in two matches. The only problem was that he was never really given a chance after that. I would have thought he could have had at least one more year on the senior list, particularly given all the retirements and lack of tall defenders. Leigh Brockman was slightly less surprising, but he did look okay in his 10 games as a defender/ruckman.

I Would of thought given leigh had played a full season with port as a fullback year before last he would have been given ago at fullback, seeing heath james was also cut.
Just a thought

could anyone tell me where leigh brockman is going pretty please
I doubt he'd have made up his mind yet. Depends whether he gets drafted - if no AFL club picks him it depends what other offers he gets. He's originally from Tasmania, so a TFL club would probably be interested.

Given the unexpected Mott development I wouldn't be that surprised to see Brockman redrafted by Sydney. At least he can provide a contest in the ruck if the others all go down.
