Does anyone want to have a crack at Melbourne's best 22? I'm attempting to do so at the moment and it's proving difficult.

Something like that I guess. Not a big fan of Jones or Rivers but they'd probably be best 22. Bate is one who might be in, I like him as a player but they have so many mobile HF type players. I don't know enough about all the untried youngsters either, so there might be a few surprises.

Scotland was stiff, but Yarran and Gibbs will spend more time up the ground and at half back. I want to play an extra tall in case we need another KPF. Shouldn't cost us any speed after we started O'hAilpin, Waite and Henderson in round one last year. Bower, Laidler and Waite can play tall and small. Plenty of run on the bench and in the starting 18.

Just making an observation on your team. Lonergan as a sub surely not. Ottens - Mooney - Podsiadly - Hawkins and Lonergan in the one team is to big and cumbersome. I'd give one of the emergencies a sub position instead. Also i'd try and make room for Scarlett's understudy Tom Gillies.

IMO Gillies and Duncan IN - Lonergan and Wojcinski/Stokes OUT. Leaning towards Stokes
