Many great film clips have been made...but what's your favorite?

Mine is Jeremy, by Pearl Jam.

PJ don't make many clips, but Jesus...this one is a pearler (pardon the pun).

If you have seen it, you know the one...lots of flashing words at the start, young teenage kid looks troubled, gets laughed at in classroom, runs around a forrest with no top on, stands in front of bonfire covered in American flag (Should have burned it;)), goes back in class, and next shot is frozen classmates in angelic white with blood splattered on them because he shot himself in the head.

Sad ending, brilliant clip...

If you know it, and you're male, you know exactly what I mean.

Know it well!

My favourite videos are DAD's semi-cartoon videos from a few years back, and Tool and Megadeth have done a few good ones.

It's a hard topic to answer because most of the bands I listen to rarely put out singles on a huge commercial basis, and if there is a vido to accompany a single, it's usually a boring old live-shot video.

Andrew Denton was guest programmer on Rage one night and he played a video clip of a song I have never heard called Raw. I think they were Aussie and suffice to say that there was enough full-frontal nudity of the band, to turn Madonna into a Nun! The song was f*cking hillarious!!

I still love the full clip to One by Metallica.

Been Caught Stealing by Jane's Addiction is a classic.

Tool's clips from Undertow onwards are brilliant.

Planet Caravan as covered by Pantera is awesome, particularly if you're stoned.

Pyramid Song by Radiohead is also digital heaven.

Flower People from the 'This Spinal Tap' video makes me crack up every time!

...but really when were talking film clips fellas, we should be talking about Moulin Rouge, Bootylicious and It's Raining Men where Geri Haliwell does the splits! Outrageous!!!

There aren't that many clips that I like. "I feel better than James Brown" by Was (not Was) is one and Rammstein's "Engel" is a good one, but DEVO's "Secret Agent Man" is probably my favourite clip.

Hey Figjam,

that song was called 'In the Raw' and the band's name was Lubricated Goat. They were from Adelaide. Enough Said!

Weezer - 'Buddy Holly'. Set in 'Arnold's' diner with the Happy Days crew.
Primus - "Wynona's Big Brown Beaver'. I'm still stuffed if I know if they're puppets or men in suits!

'Just' by radiohead would have to the best video clip ever made I reckon - once you see it you never forget it.

Yeah Just f*ckin rocks and the video clip is a classic.

If you want to know how to p*ss a Radiohead fan off over the internet, go to one of their many fan boards and ask what the guy says at the end of the Just video.

Every newbie and their dog ask that friggen question, as they miss the point entirely (ie. think that there is an answer). The regulars will tear you a newbie!!! :D

PS: Thanks Rusty!

Blink 182 usually make pretty good video clips. M&M's was funny as was the one where they take off Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and Christina Aguleri. Blink are pretty damn funny! Green Day also do some good film clips.

All time fav (though I haven't seen it since I was about 12):
Runaway Train - Soul Asylum
Sad stuff.....wondering if any of those kids were ever found?

Latest film clip that weirded me out (it was late, and I'd had too much to drink):
Whiskey in the jar - Metallica :D

i reckon overall the foofighters make the best clips

I remember that song. I was really young when i saw the clip and I got so freaked about it :( I hope they were found :(

Couple of oldies that I like :

Close to me / the Cure the one where they are all in the wardrobe that eventually gets pushed off a cliff - very clever clip by Tim Burton.

Girls on Film / Duran Duran - anyomne remember the full uncensored version ? - Like high quality soft pr0n, so very 80's really.

Talking to a Stranger / Hunters and Collectors - wild and weird, just like the song - still don't know why Mark Seymour was in a shower with a rubber band around his face ....

cheers

I think when I first saw that clip on Rage, the guest announcer (I forget who) warned that it could disturb some viewers. But it didn't affect me at all! Does this mean I'm totally disturbed already?

A memorable recent clip is Missy Elliot's "Get Yur Freak On". In one scene, she spits across a crowded dance floor and a guy catches it in his mouth and swallows it!

Why does Ten cut off the end of clips? A lot of the time, if the clip tells a story, you miss the ending. Stupid station.
