Multiplat Best Fighting Game of All Time

I know there aren't many Fighting Game enthusiasts on this board, but hey, one genre at a time.

Not excluding expansions with words like 'Super' or 'Turbo' at the end. No Wrestling/UFC Games either.

Smash Bros Melee for me easily, SoulCalibur 2 second.

As a fighting series, Tekken takes the cake. But individual game? Street Fighter II by a very big margin.

Can I ask why you chose DOA 3 over DOA 2?

I thought the second one was the clear peak for the franchise.

Regardless of that fact, Soul Calibur II for me. Then SSB Melee.

Haven't played the series before, just went with the one that had the highest metascore (I don't even think 2 was on metacritic). Having checked it on Gamerankings though, DOA2 on the Dreamcast is clearly the highest.

Gotta be Street Fighter 2, I know 1-on-1 brawlers were around before it but it practically defined the genre. Ahh the memories of being taught how to play it by dodgy asian dudes in a dodgier Russell St parlour with ashtrays on the cabinet and smoke stinging my eyes, good times

PS. Also smashed the hell out of Street Fighter EX plus Alpha on the PS1, it was that version that had 3D grahics but you still fought on a 2D plane and from memory was the 1st SF game or close to it where you could chain supers together, great fun.

In my prime I was a master at King, Eddy and Hwoarrang (?spelling?), Damn just thinking now, so many other great fighters on their roster, Jin, Law, Lei, Yoshimitsu, Julia, Paul, and anyone remember Gon, the little dinosaur that used to piss off ya mates cos he was impossible to hit apart from ducking. Great minigames too, Tekken Force, which was like your old school beat 'em ups and the beach volleyball, so much fun!!

Gon is the greatest character of all time. I was so pissed off when he was pretty much the only one not in Tag 2.
