Which websites do you find best for information about the NFL & NCAA?

I'm looking to broaden my knowledge of what's going on in these leagues, what's the best place to start?

Welcome to our NFL board thoselionslads.

Before I can answer your query.. need to know what you already know.

Do you know much about the game? (since you're a newbie around here, we got no idea about you)
Are you wanting to embrace the game with understanding the rules and basics?
If you're already aware of the rules/ game basics, needing to know current news and what's going on around the league with columns / blogs, there are plenty.

NFL.com is the primary 'go to' website for all updates and gameday updates- follow the game which extend to various viewing packages well worth there subscription low cost.

I read articles from Yahoo NFL.com but there are multiple websites out there including individual club websites which can be accessed via NFL.com anyway, to get more pressing detail.

I also read articles from the local journalists - leading beat writers (from each team) which can be found via google.

I know the basics and rules etc. Probably just looking at ways to gain a greater understanding of the game in general so I can enjoy it more and slowing start to understand the intricacies.

Also looking for the best news, blogs etc

Basically looking for tips on how other people advanced their understanding the game. :thumbsu:

The NFL.com segments of playbook breakdowns in game previews is one of my favourite insights to understanding how good the strategies are and what players are able to step up.. still learn new things about teams/ structures every year. It's very subtle but a major difference to having plays extend because either player X provided a timely block or because of player B is extremely athletically gifted.

I'll have to check that out.

Thanks :thumbsu:

There are many threads to check out in our American football boards but first & foremost.. it would be a treat to find out more about you and what better way is to complete the our BF survey. >> Click here

I trust you can copy & paste / edit your responses in a different colour?

Then there is an opportunity to start getting involved in our online comps. There are various Fantasy Football leagues with online drafting process, the premium online NFL tipping comp/s for real cash prizes and bragging rights, the weekly forums of debate and insidious banter.

You've come onto our boards at the right time. GG is the mod. Great depth of knowledge along with 80% of the regulars who post during the season. There are many characters who love bouncing off the ropes and coming down with aplomb when the occasion arises. ;) It's a carnival of souls who keep this board buzzing. :thumbsu: I'll let you figure that out over time.

The National Football Post usually has some pretty good playbook breakdown stuff while also providing news for both college FB and the NFL.

If you're looking to broaden your understanding of the various schemes in the game, the BF Football 101 and Strategy threads have plenty of links to send you on your way (at least they did when I last checked)

See the stickied thread called Guidelines/Calendar/Directory/HOF

Under the "Directory" section there's a huge list of threads worth searching.

I just created a thread with a definitive list of links, called Football Links.

There's another thread called Favorite Football-Related Sites.

It's an old thread, but it's got some good links in it towards the end.

There's also a thread called Football 101 with a great many links provided inside.

There's also a thread called Understanding American Football where there's more discussion, questions and answers.
