Box Hill 50 points down 16 minutes into the 3rd quarter of the Semi Final - come back and win by a point thanks to a David Loats goal with 10 seconds on the clock!

Gee I'm pumped - magnificent win against the odds.

I'm not a Box Hill supporter but it was a great win.

And the vocal support given by the Box Hill (mostly read: Hawthorn) supporters at the ground was fantastic.

Looks like a Port Melbourne Vs Box Hill grand final is a very real possibility.

it was a real possibility before the vfl screwed port melbourne making them travel to tasmania even though they finished on top. if port win today, it would most likely be a port v box hill GF.

I'd be a little worried about Williamstown. Can Collingwood drop back whoever they want next week seeing as though they are still in the finals or is it only if they are playing a game on the weekend? Either way they will still have a few extra pie players available.

I think it's only if they play on the same weekend. They could drop back players who've played 7 VFL games during the VFL H&A season, but I doubt they'd risk injury.

Try this one for size - Sandringham were 44 points behind at 3/4 time in the 1962 GRAND FINAL and got up and won by 1 point against Moorabbin who also kicked 1 goal during the last quarter.

Sorry - that's right. Didn't think Sandy sounded right. Yep, it was Williamstown that had the huge final quarter come back.
If you bothered to watch during the half time break in the Port Melbourne vs Tassie match you would have seen it.

It was great to look at the old games.

Geez I thought that those shorts that the players wore would have been too tight. I could imagine all the players picking out mega wedgies every 5 minutes.

Too much info Suzi..far too much info!

Notice the umpire's uniforms? How anyone could have ever not spotted those!

Just goes to show nothing is new remember that was 1990 and the VFA had umpires in yellow and how long have the VFA/VFL had the umpires miked up?

Againts the odds??? Box Hill should have win by 15 goals, considering Werribee have guys who come from Local clubs and TAC sides just about all of whom are very young .
Box Hill on the Other hand have 15 or so AFL listed players and almost the rest of the side has been on a AFL list previously. Great win againts the odds .

Port Will win the flag easily no doubt about, they are to strong around the packs and play a much more direct style of footy.

cheers

Sandringham will be loving the fact Box Hill got up, much easier ticket into the Grand Final for them.

Box Hill are overrated, half the Hawthorn players in their side are duds. Fancy those supporters yelling and screaming and jumping the fence like they did - it wasn't a Grand Final win. Goaldenhawk, Hitman and you other Box Hill people - the ABC TV cameras captured your hurdling effort magnificently :D

It was a great game, it was a big win, but geez you should never have been in that position in the first place.

GO ZEBRAS!

I meant against the odds as in when you are 50 points down with 40 minutes of football to play you have no right to win.

Seems a few people are falling for Phil Cleary's whinge about Werribee not having the fitness. No doubt it was a factor, but the VFL is hardly an amateur comp - no team should lose from the position Werribee were in.

I doubt Box Hill win win this week - we lack a key forward target like Mark Williams.

Phil was right in terms of Werribee's fitness, but I would say it had more to do with a 6 day break and Barry Prendergast not resting his key players late in the game the previous week when they were 100 points in front of Springvale.

Phil was also right that bozo of an umpire should be taught that it is not holding the ball when a player makes any contact by boot with the footy. May not have cost Werribee the match, but that umpire should be given the flick for next weekends finals because it was a poor and incorrect decision under pressure and those sorts of people are not what is needed in a preliminary final.

Kevin Mitchell and Ken Gannon - The VFL's duo of twits.
