just wondering what peoples thoughts are? On the news they have bigger clothes for fat people.

For me not fitting in clothes made me want to lose weight (even being a bloke)

if clothes just fit and your still fat surely thats a bad thing because it takes away the desire to be healthy?

or am I wayyyyy off the mark?

It's a fair point, but i dont think explaining this to them will make them stop. Myer are not concerned about the morality of marketing to the fatties, they just want a fat piece of the fat cash.

well the upside being that i'm not the only one thinking it isn't a good thing

its actually sicking to think that fat is now normal - male or female

So what would you rather they wear? Walk around with everything squished together? Ill fitting clothing that is embarrassing for them to wear and us to look at. Clothing for bigger people sells, because believe it or not, big people actually want to wear things that look good.

I don't see how shame as a reason to loose weight is remotely healthy either. Wouldn't that promote things like bulimia and anorexia?

I know there'd be an uproar if this happened, but isn't it kind of unfair (for lack of a better word) that a person has to pay the exact same amount of money for an XS as an XL size? I mean, it uses twice the fabric or so.

I'm of two minds about this - female fat should never be considered ok. Male fatties - well the more fat arses, the better I look as one of the now minority non-lard arse men out there :D

of course it doesnt - do you expect them to walk around naked? I used to be a bit overweight and although i was like a 14-16 and there were plenty of nice clothes for me, i still wanted to be a size 10-12 because i knew the clothes would look better on me and i would have better styles and stuff to chose from.

so having big clothes doesnt promote fat people, it gives them something nice to wear, but (for women at least) they can still tell the difference between what they wear and how they look compared to someone 10 kilos lighter. not being able to fit into certain clothes will always be an issue and an incentive to lose weight, but the fact that they do have nicer options at the moment doesnt mean it promotes being fat, it simply gives them something to wear. As someone else said, having smaller clothes wont stop the actual causes of obesity like overeating and being lazy, all it would mean is that more people would turn to bulemia and stuff, rather then face their real issues.

also im sick of this pc crap that its everyone elses fault that someone is fat and we should force them to lose weight, if someone wonts to be a lazy fat ass then let them! they can deal with it and all the social and health problems that come with it themselves!

So fatties should have to wear clothes which are too small, be uncomfortable and in the process disgust normal people who have to look at them?

Cigarettes shouldn't be available either as they just promote smoking. Obesity isn't the only unhealthy lifestyle out there. People should get off their high horse.

Hmmm, I do like the idea of only manufacturing tight clothes to force people to lose weight. Cant tell you how many times someone has told me, "I want to lose weight to fit into this dress, or these pants". I personally have a phobia of baggy clothes and everything I buy is very snug.
