I just watched a show on the History Channel about a man back in the 1970's who had created a machine that was capable of generating more electricity than of what you put in.

Just one of these machines could power and entire household for just 2 cents a day.

Anyway, he wanted to get it patened, but the patent office rejected in THREE times, it was suspected that big oil companies were behind this, for if this machine was put into use, it would almost remove the need for fossil fuels!

Then, he complained to the courts, claiming that there was no reasoning behind his not being allowed a patent...he won his case and the courts forced the patent office to test his machine.

The office conducted the test, yet the installed a GROUND WIRE on the machine during the course of the test, a ground wire is used to DUMP EXCESS ENERGY! So obviously the machine did not work and the guy never got his patent.

I saw this guys machine on the show and it worked! Think about it, we could have been using this machine for at least the last 30 years, pollution would be nowhere near as heavy as it is today.

Stories like this make me so angry, just like the guy who invented the water powered car was asassinated.

My dad was telling me some guy in WA made a engine for a car, that was about the size of a 1L or so...

But put out about the same power as a V8, and was more economical than a normal car of its size (1L).

Apparently the American Oil or Petrol companies brought it for millions and destroyed it.

I was only telling you what I saw on TV, the machine worked, he showed it too. He got a small AA battery and plugged it into his machine, the little diodes he had on the end he attached to a voltmeter, now a AA battery has about 1.5 volts, this machine was producing about 9 volts.

That can be done with anything. Take noen lights for example, 240v source power yet the light passes through a series of capacitors to generate over 1000 volts.

Voltage isn't the key here, Amps are. ;)

I invented taking the first available parking spot and walking across the parking lot to get in the store. This rather than driving around for ten minutes looking for a closer spot - and thus "saving time."

I haven't tried to get the idea to catch on. Not because I am in terror of the secret petrol company hit squads, but rather because the typical American driver is too dense to catch the concept (especially Kansans). You can give it a whirl in Australia though. Let me know how it works out.

Its not possible to produce more energy than you consume. Put as simply as possible, energy cannot be created. Energy in the universe is uniform, ie not changing. Energy can be changed from one form to another (mechanical, chemical, thermo, etc), but none of these processes are 100% efficient, energy will be lost through heat, sound, light, etc. Even superconductors, which run at near absolute zero (-276 degrees celcius if i remember correctly) are not 100% efficient.

So taking both above mentioned laws, the guys machine cannot be real.

And as for the increase voltage, its done with transformers (coils basically). As M29 said, its Amps that count.

THERE IS ALWAYS ENERGY LOSS! This is one of Newton's laws (???), If this was true don't you think we would be able to fly in helicopters indefinately due to a turbine or something absorbing the previous revolutions energy? This sounds a HELL of a lot like Cold Fusion to me

When I was doing engineering one teacher told us it was possible to hook up your fridges etc with capacitors to get free power. I can't be arsed explaining to you all how capicators work. Needless to say he wouldn't tell us how to hook it all up as he worked for a power company. :p
