I see Neale Daniher is calling for the centre circle to be made larger.

Personally I hope he is successful as I paid close attention to the ruck situation over the weekend and I feel from Adelaide's point of view we too need a larger circle. Biglands did very well in the first quarter however I think Clarke will need the extra run up while Hudson keeps on bouncing up and down and stepping out of it (easy to fix).

Daniher no doubt wants it larger because White really struggled on the weekend and is not the tallest and relys on his leap but I think Neale is correct and an extra metre or so should be added. I also missed the real hard contest is the middle.

Thoughts?

Thought that the circle made the hit outs look like basketball tip offs. :(

I think Circle needs to be bigger by at least a meter. Its like a basketball tip off and Dermie made a good point yesterday on SEN. With these rules you can have a skinny lad with no courage playing and having an effect on the game.

I don't like the idea of circle at all and to make things worse umpires can't bounce the bloody thing properly and with this circle it further disadvantages a ruckman with the bad bounce. I would definetly make the circle larger.

What they should have done was get rid of the line across the middle.

That's the most sensible logical thing to do so sadly that won't happen.

If they must have their bleeding circle, then each ruckman needs another metre or two run up, and the ball has to be thrown up, not bounced.

That piddly little circle they are trialling along with pathetic bouncing are making a mockery of the centre ball-ups.

Couldn't agree more. Bad bounce and small circle is making a mockery of something thats part of the game.

Next we will have a toss of the coin to find out who kicks off from the center ala soccer

IMO the remedy was simple (as explained by Dermie last year)

Keep the status quo (small circle) but penalise the ruckman who is taking his eyes off the ball.

You can't jump into the opposing ruckman deliberately (and that's the way the majority of injuries were occuring) if you have eyes only for the ball - quite simple really
