biggest supporter base

hey i have seen some survey that has afl clubs supporter base and it says sydney has 1,500,000 fans and that essendon has close to 100,000 fans more than us nationwide.
Is this for real? as if they have surveyed thay many people i know damn well i have never been surveyed and i reckon if you ask anyone they will tell you collingwood has the biggest supporter base.
every 3rd person you talk to is a pies fan and we get the biggest crowds week in week out.

Collingwood has the highest membership of the VICTORIAN clubs, but given the lower populations in WA and SA, it's fair to say that Collingwood may still have more fans.

Interestingly, there are more AFL members with Collingwood club support than any other club.

You walk down the street in Sydney and ask people which AFL team they support, they're going to say 'Sydney'. They may not even follow the game or ever have even attended a game, but if asked the question of course they will just say 'Sydney' the same goes for Brisbane.

Walk down the street in Melbourne and ask the same question and there are 10 local options!

Yes the sampling of this survey is screwed. You want to talk about support, look at crowd numbers, not much to argue with there.

I'm a bit disappointed with this. As Dingo Boy said they didn't survey him and they haven't surveyed me either. Surely they can't publish it if they haven't asked everyone

the thing is the survey places collingwood 5th overall in terms of support and has essendon above us..
now can anyone here honestly say that collingwood isnt the best supported victorian club?
it would be close but every1 knows clooingwood has the biggest supporter base.

Exactly right, and the NRL released similar figures a few years ago but excluded Melbourne for this reason.

Not surprisingly, the Bronco's came in first...
