I am sick of watching this huge waste of space. He is approaching 100 games and he still has no idea about what he should be doing out there.

Rocket Eade rolls the dice at half time and puts his best ruckman, Luke Darcy, at full forward. He throws his rookie ruckman into the ruck to just compete against our two.

It is at this point where we should have dominated the centre. Biglands time had arrived to show that he is worth having. He should have out leapt and out muscled. Instead he had is botty spanked by a young boy!

Where is Matty Clarke?

broke his hand in the Ressies for south on the weekend and will miss a minimum of 2 games.

That'd be right!! :(

These new centre circle rules make life very difficult for a crash and bash ruckman like Biglands, favouring the more athletic basketball type ruckmen, which is why Huddo is doing far better than Biglands in the centre.

Clarke has always relied on his reach, so he wouldn't be as adversely affected by the new rules as Biglands has been.

I love Rhetty, And whilst I know he's not as good as many, I do think you're exagerating his lack of skill...

Really disappointing to hear that. :(

On topic, Biglands IMO has and will always struggle at AFL level. He's got the body of Tarzan, but has the ability of Jane. It's disappointing because the basics are there. He's just struggled to put the basics together, and he's not getting any younger at 27.

Obviously in two years time our ruck stocks are going to look very different, but unfortunately at this stage we need him throughout the development of Meesen and Maric. Ironically Huddo's already ten streets infront of Rhett.

I must also say that I'm awaiting Wayne's World's inevitable reply to this thread. :p

And Hudson is an athletic leaping ruckman - Macca we can't keep making excuses for Biglands

All the good leaping ruckman have adapted - Everitt, Darcey.....

Well what do they say - the world is full of inevitabilities ;)

Biglands has the physique, he has marvellous skills, but he has no footballing brain or "grunt"

It is not going to change now, and I know most posters will say we have to keep him while Meesen and Maric are developing but IMHO at 27 now is the ideal time to do a trade for a draft pick or player.

Another PS and having the responsibility thrust upon Meeson and Maric could see the best brought out of them.

It won't happen though - Biglands "meh"!! :(

Biglands? meh :p
:p I know I shouldn't be laughing but what a waste of a body and talent.

Imagine if you could put Hudsons brain and willpower in Biglands body - we'd have a champion player :D

I don't neccessarily disagree with that. Despite his short comings I think he could net us a pretty good return. A club like Carlton would pay a pretty good price for someone like Biglands.

Not a bad idea. The drafting of ruckmen in last year's draft, as well as the huge improvment in Huddo has allowed us this freedom, despite Clarke's inevitable retirement.

There's a guy called Justin Davies who's borderline at the CFC. Has pace and smarts, and whilst his finishing raises questions, could become a good crumber in front of goal - something we're obviously desperate for. Add a draft pick to that and I would be pretty happy. :)

Very true. Ruckman's trade value are very good. eg. Peter Street. He was traded to the Bulldogs for pick 20.. and he hasnt had an impact really. Darren Jolly pick 16 and he didn't do much.

Bigmen who supposedly have Biglands flexibility of positions would normally fetch a reasonable deal - But if not at the end of his current contract period? - then I'm afraid we're stuck with him.

How astute of Port to delist him - another prophetic piece of list management and analysis.

Biglands to the Bulldogs for Faulkner and a second round??

Thoughts?

I'd be very happy with that. Faulkner's very similar to Davies but I reckon Cameron would be more committed than Davies, especially if travelling interstate.

Its a big yes from me. :)

they were going to redraft him by all accounts the same year we picked him up, forcing our hand with our first pick that year.

ahem, now my point of view.
Biglands has been a pretty good player for the AFC he has played 100 odd games, and has formed a pretty good combo in style with Clarke.

These assertions of his demise are somewhat premature imo. He would still get us something at the draft table me thinks if we went down that path.

I'd rather Biglands + something for Fevola :D:p

Not overly sold on Faulkner. He hasn't really come along as well as I have expected. Better of trying to draft Travis Varcoe from Central Dictrict

A big no from me.

While Biglands is a bit up and down, he's had more impact on games than Faulkner ever will.

IMO we have a heap of Faulkner types already - why do we want to lose a big average man for a little average one?

Clarke won't be around next year, and we'll need Biglands to help Hudson until Meesen and hopefully Maric come onto the scene.

Yeah, Faulkner hasn't done the best. How tall is Trav Varcroe? I had a look at his AIS profile and it said he is only 175cm? Is he taller now?

Would you do it if trading Biglands + something else would get you Fevola or a key goal kicking forward?

He is a small midfielder probably about the 177-178 cm but gee he is super quick and has big raps on him.

The only thing that Fevola and Faulkner have in common is that their surnames both start with an "F"!! :D

If your going to trade, at least try and trade up. Fevola would be an "up" trade.

That would be worth taking the risk for and having one less ruckman IMO.
