OK I have a small problem here. Bigpond says I can't connect to the internet because the modem is not responding. Problem is it's saying it now and I'm clearly on the net. Why is it doing this? It happens all the time as well. Is it just typical Telstra or is my modem rooted?

Not too sure, does this pop up when you have IE open only? Maybe you have set IE to dial up some out of date setting. Try changing the setup (via Internet Options and Connections) to try to connect to the correct DUN or choose to 'never dial a connection'.

You could already have a dial-up connection configured (from a long time ago) that might be causing problems.

Just check, other than that... Well it is Telstra BigPond you're dealing with.
