Billy Joel

His voice isn't up to par anymore, he struggled to hit some notes last night... but in his heydey he was awesome. I have Greatest Hits Volume I and II, which is a 2CD set, but only goes up to 1985. Volume III is separate, and covers 1986-1993... or something along those lines. I would worry about the last 10 years... he's done nothing really significant.

I enjoyed it very much.

Although a little uncomfortable at times at the format, it was a bit of a School of Rock for the students as they got a history lesson about The Beatles, Hendrix, Stones, Phil Spector, etc. He has earned a place right up there with the best of them.

Always fantastic in concert with a great band of stalwarts. I rememeber him playing at the MCG with Elton and when Elton was on I kept thinking that I'd forgotten how good he was. Then Billy Joel came on and reminded who is the real Piano Man and which one can actually rock.

Plus he was married to Christie Brinkley, say no more.

One of the best concerts I have been to.

Didn't enjoy that show on the ABC, would've preferred your more traditional concert format. I was warned however in the TV Guide but chose to ignore it, so serves me right!

But this hasn't got Scenes From an Italian Restaurant, that song is a must.

I reckon you're better off sticking with Greatest Hits Volumes 1,2 (comes in a 2 CD set) & Volume 3. I think you can pick them up pretty cheap now.

Seconded. Topjars, he sort of half-heartedly sang Scenes From an Italian Restaurant... when you hear the studio version, you'll understand why you must get Greatest Hits Volumes 1 & 2 rather than the Essential one. Billy Joel at his greatest.

Sanity had the set of three for $20 a couple of years ago.......I couldn't refuse. ;)

I didn't see this special that you have all been talking about, but in his prime, he was awesome. Who cares how much he's done in the last decade, probably just decided to age gracefully rather than continue releasing albums just to cash in on his fame!
