Hi all,
Hoping someone knows what's going on here - having no luck via google.
Situation: I have set up Skype for my daughter. She has a mobile phone number and a gmail address, and accesses gmail through her phone. She also has a Microsoft account, linked to that same gmail.
When I set up Skype on her iPhone, if I allow it (in settings) to link to contacts, Skype then shows as a suggested list of people, simply the weirdest mish-mash of suggested contacts. There's the people who are *actually* in her iPhone (which she's only had for about a year), but then there's a host of people (mixture of emails / phone numbers) going back for pretty much a decade - including eg. my old phone number from the UK which I haven't had since 2006. It includes all sorts of people that me and my wife knew back then.
The only conceivable link I can think of is that in some manner, it has picked up old contacts from my wife's email account, or something like that. But my wife never uses that phone to access anything.
My daughter's gmail account was created back in that era, but then sat dormant for many years, so it's conceivable I've logged into her gmail back in that time - but I can't see how that would have created this situation.
When I check the Skype settings, it does say it's linked to my daughter's Microsoft account (which from googling, I've discovered is impossible to sever), but there's nothing to indicate that the Microsoft account is in turn picking up these contacts... and I'm sure I only created the Microsoft account a few months back.
So where the hell is Skype pulling these contacts from?! It must be able to "see" through into someone's email or address book, but I'm completely stumped how to figure this out.
Meantime, it's pretty frigging weird to look at my daughter's phone and see all these people that she doesn't know, and shouldn't be contacting.
Any help!
Cheers, Arc
