Jaryd Blair looked comfortable in his first training session as a Collingwood player

On Wednesday 17 December Collingwood trained with two of the five rookie draft acquisitions, Tristan Francis (pick 11) and Jaryd Blair (27).

The rain held off long enough for the team to train for just under two hours at Gosch's Paddock.

There were a few new drills the team worked through including an open field session with players moving the ball through the centre of the ground.

Once the ball reached over the halfway mark, the offensive team had to kick the ball in their forward 50 earning points for hitting targets.

The defenders would try to deny the opposition the points by marking the ball before it hit the intended targets.

Francis and Blair were not spared any introductions into training as they completed the entire session with the team.

There was a festive feel in the air as the players chatted through the duration of training.

Jaryd Blair tries to take his first training session with stride as Chris Dawes towers over him.

Blair shows off his solid kicking form, similar to Tyson Goldsack.

Good to hear the rain held out..
Was going to head down but was a bit worried about the weather..
Last time i went down training got cancelled :thumbsd:

Blair is short but very built.
Dawes is ripped.

Did anybody go and take photos ?

I was there, but didn't take photos. The guys all seemed in reasonable shape. Cloke, Dawes and Brown are all massive units.

I thought Blair had pretty neat disposal on both sides. He's a little bloke, but didn't look out of place.

I didn't see Rocca, Reid or Medhurst out there at all.

Steele Sidebottom is just having the time of his life out there, he still can't wipe the smile off his face.

Noticed that too, it's good to see. Bit like George Bailey of the Tasmanian Tigers.

Dawes is looking great isn't he.

I didn't have him in my best 22 but he will hopefully surprise me a bit this year he certainly has talent. Looks like he's put on kg's now too.

Blairs technique looks great in that pic.

Best part of the pre-season so far is that we've got through to the Christmas break with no injuries (touch wood) and every single player on the list should be good to go round 1.

Still can't believe Ruslings shoulder hasn't fallen off yet! ;)

Guarantee 2010 forward line will be:

Medhurst Dawes Cloke
McAffer Rusling Bennell

UNSTOPPABLE!! they just need the midfield to get the ball to em..... (thats easier said than done.)

Not too sure about that. There's 4 players that are really unknown there.

I would prefer:

Didak Cloke Thomas

Medhurst Rocca Anthony

With Davis, Pendles, McCarthy and Corrie rotating through mid/forward and one of Rusling/Dawes rotating through the bench.

Did anyone see if Googs was Still Training at the Pies?

No I don't think he was Dave.
Oh Okay,Just wondering because he trained with us I would not Suprise me if they asked him to stay at training and To possibly join the VFL Side

I just remembered a drill that about half the group tried a few times about halfway through. They basically set up about 12 players give or take in a rough 4 x 3 zone through the centre square, then 4 or 5 players would try and work through that defensive formation (cluster?) using run and handball.

Like I said, the drill only went for a short time, and not everyone was involved, but it would appear that we have already begun planning ways to combat Hawthorns dominance next year. This particular onlooker was pretty excited to see Brad Dick weave his way through almost the entire zone untouched.

Yeah i went
i brought my video camera along and got some good footage
i am also gonna write up a report aswell
should be on about 9:30 tonight
because got cricket training soon
