Not sure who knows about it or not, but my dell microsoft windoms computer has Blue Screen also known as blue screen of death. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Screen_of_Death

I've searched all over the internet of ways to fix it, but basically I can't seem to do it and theres ways but you have to wipe you whole computer and re install windoms etc.

I realy can't afford to lose the files on my computer, pictures, movies, documents etc.

I've called up microsoft and I the techie guy costs 90 bucks to go through a walk through of how to fix. I would rather take it into a place and get someone else to do it.

Does anyone know how to fix it, have any suggestions, on good computer techies that could possibly help me?

When I head home I can give you guys the exact code on my blue screen, cheers!

My last resort is wiping the whole computer!!!!!

you should back-up.......could be a indication that your motherboard is faulty...BACKUP NOW!

Try replacing the OS with Linux. Ubuntu is a great distro.

If you are into paying more for what you get and having less control of your system, go for a mac.

Lol - Of course the Mac and Linux fanboys come out (they have obviously never had to fsck a damaged filesystem and lose it completely).

Blue screens are usually hardware issues. Bad memory, shitty hardware etc. They shouldn`t survive a reboot unless something seriously bad has happened. By putting your drive into another machine you should at least be able to pull out your data.

for all the mac fanboys i just laugh when you come into work and blame windows for issues you have with usb sticks that wont work on your systems, lol

as for no trojans and viruses well when something is supposededly harder to hack thats when the virus writers start getting to your os.

for me i dont require the mac and i can buy a kickarse machine for the same price,

fact: did you know that the first mp3 player was not an ipod,

yes a blue screen of death fixes itself if its not hardware.

If that was the major problem that mac users had to deal with, I'd be pretty happy. shesh

I'm not sure what your point is here. But if you are saying its a bad thing that i don't get viruses and trojans because hackers don't find osx challenging.....then again, happy with that.
But you're right, I have never got a virus, trojan or adware at home or work using osx.

for me i dont require the mac and i can buy a kickarse machine for the same price,

Unlikely, these comparisons generally aren't comparing apples with apples. Macs come pre-installed with a whole host of software, actual useful software. The question people seem to forget when purchasing hardware is the resale price.

When your "kick arse" computer is 2 years old and you want to upgrade (parts or the whole PC) you will be lucky to give the old parts away. I'm quite comfortable my iMac will have a very reasonable resale value after 2 years which will go to purchasing the latest model.

You may be able to buy the latest and greatest now, but as we all know technology changes...and quickly. People not only should be thinking about the up front cost, but what sort of resale price you can get when you need to update. THIS is where value for money in mac "kicks arse".

When I had a PC, like I'm sure many of you may agree, I didn't have one PC. I had one PC and a room full of PC part junk. If I wasn't upgrading something, I was saving for the latest gfx card or ram. The case door was generally off.

Add up over the years how much you spent on PC and its upgrades. Then see if the more expensive mac argument holds firm.

fact: did you know that the first mp3 player was not an ipod,
Interesting, and totally irrelevant.

yes a blue screen of death fixes itself if its not hardware.

I hope so, I remember them too well. Thank god I don't need to anymore.

Ah Jafa, apart from your team (oh well) you're a man close to my heart. I think The LinMac guys just sit and wait on these boards for anything slightly antiwindows the POUNCE.

They are a funny lot

hey teebee so macs have everything installed and never wanted to change hey,

but have now sold out to the intel chip.

and before you start going on about how you have all the software you need well why does microsoft make a mac version of office?

and for those who like gaming on the pc although many consider it a dead art there are a handful of pissy games converted from windows originals not much more.

having to dual boot with windows on a mac kinda defeats the purpose of being an elitest with your mac,

and now the 3g iphone is here and again the mac fanboys start to salivate with there 2 mega pixel camera and no mms function.

oh and yes free applications off the net for it, well here come those so called non existent viruses

cheers mm

Steady on Mighty Mick, no ones being elitist here. If anything you seem to have a massive chip on your shoulder.

When you open the box of a iMac or macbook or whatever, pre-installed is a whole feast of software, usable software. I remember buying a Dell many years back, i uninstalled most of its useless packaged software within the first few days and was hunting for decent replacements on download.com. Most of it was trials, for 30 days and then you had to pay stupid prices for sub-par software. Nothing integrated, everything acted independent.
The software already pre-installed on a mac work hand in hand, drag and drop. Easy.

and before you start going on about how you have all the software you need well why does microsoft make a mac version of office?

Why does Microsoft make a Mac version of office? Why do you think? Ask Microsoft. They want people to buy Office for Mac, what does that has to do with Apple? It's called competition.

To add, I have office on my mac too. I have it because my partner uses it at work and thats whats she's comfortable using. I use Pages, perfect for my needs.

and for those who like gaming on the pc although many consider it a dead art there are a handful of pissy games converted from windows originals not much more.

You may also ask EA Games whether PC its a dead art. A recent announcement suggests it is. I think you'll find PC AND MAC gaming to diminish over the next few years, with Xbox 360 (yep, i own a microsoft product), PS3 and numerous hand held game machines, the PC and MAC gaming will become a niche market.

I have dual boot if I ever need it (never needed it at work). However in my private work, I have to use a program that isn't on the mac, for which I use parallels to run XP (and what a dreaded experience it is).

Now what piece of software do I have to use that won't work on OSX?
Microsoft Expression Blend.....suprise suprise, no mac version. gee I wonder why.

and now the 3g iphone is here and again the mac fanboys start to salivate with there 2 mega pixel camera and no mms function.

Oh we're on phones now? You flip flop all over the place don't you.

I'll likely get a iphone. (Did you ever doubt it?)

But again, it maybe not the best of the best out there, the nokia's camera is great, video brilliant.

But it comes back to integration and software. I know if I get an iphone it'll be a pleasent experience, will sync with my iMac without issues, do everything I need it to do.

oh and yes free applications off the net for it, well here come those so called non existent viruses

Are you ok, shesh you're an angry guy. Why can't you just enjoy your pc experience like I enjoy my mac experience. Maybe thats the problem, you're too busy smashing the side of your PC case during a blue screen.

cheers mm

I agree, I loved my c64.

So how does it fix it self? Do I just have to wait it out?

Cheers for all the help guys although it's turned more into a mac v windows fight.

Will be getting onto the issue sometime this week as I have been v busy and hopefully will have all my files back!

Intel wanted Apple just as much as Apple wanted Intel.
The C2D chips are getting faster than we ever thought a chip could get, because Apple have back Intel with money and support, something Microsoft would never do.
Have a look at the Macbook Air. Apple put it to Intel to come up with a chip that is not only fast enough, but is half the size of its C2D chips on the market, it happened and now we have a whole new line of chips for notebooks.
If you want a fast system buy a MacPro, send the money, you can upgrade the RAM to 32GB, upgarde the video card to want ever you want and you'll have a system that'll last you a long time, maybe 5 to 7 years before the need to buy a new one.

I ran both XP & Vista using VMware, its just as fast as any other system I've ran XP or Vista on, comes in handy if I have to do something on windows.

I run Office on mac, its fine does everything I need it to do, I also use iWork, Apples office suite, a much easier version and keynote kicks a$$ over powerpoint.

I'm not a fan of the phone, to me its a "w@nker tool" the virus' that the phone may get WILL NOT come across to the mac like it can to the PC.
Macs don't have a "backdoor" like PC's do, if yu install a program you have to type in your password.
