RIP John James - great man, great footballer.

Without James the NT Thunder side would never have gotten off the ground in the Queensland league, and the for that I will be forever grateful as myself and my mates have become fervant Thunder supporters.

This means that we still have Williams, Collis and Judd with us as Brownlow winners from this great club, and we also have our "should have been" winner in Kouta. I hope we don't lose anyone else for a long time.

Has the club announced what (if anything) they are going to do in memory of John James? Name a room or part of the facilities at Visy Park after him? Wear black arm-bands one week? Anything like that?

John James Memorial Service at Visy Park

The Carlton Football Club will hold a memorial service at Visy Park on Tuesday December 14, to honour former Brownlow Medallist John James, who passed away last week.

The memorial service will be held on the ground at Visy Park at 11.30am. The Carlton players and coaching staff will be joined by Carlton past players and officials as well as a number of former players who played against James during his AFL career.

John James taught me in 1987 at Robinvale Consolidated school. Not only my favourite teacher but a genuinely nice bloke. He had some ripper stories too, which the kids appreciated.
Talk about humble, I never even knew he played VFL until I was much much older. He never mentioned the fact, let alone that he was a Champion.
This guy was the complete opposite of Akermanis, both won the medal but John was humble, articulate and likeable and will be remembered as such.
