Good article in the Adelaide Tiser today, it must be in the Melbourne papers as well. Anyhow some important quotes form sticks all of which i agree with

'sometimes when you haven't won for a while its hard to remember how to get past the line'

'We're getting close to where we want to be but realistically we still need to get alot of games into these young blokes and we'll be better down the track'

'people should be able to see where we're going with our side and if Carlton supporters and opposition supoprters can't see we're going the rigght way, they're not looking hard enough because there's better times ahead'

'In bad times a lot of people jump off. I'm happy to go through the bad times because I've had a shit load of good times down there. It's your duty through the bad times it's all hands on deck. That's how i feel'

I especially like that last quote, well done sticks :thumbsu:

14 straight loses?!?!

Are we really worse than we were 3-4 years ago? If not, why are we on the verge of breaking a 100 year old losing record at the club. I need answers people?!

because its complex and you just don't measure improvement in wins and losses. The team that won those games 3 or 4 years ago that was a more experienced group. They won some games but were never going to go much higher than what they did. We are now playing more kids and putting more responsibility on the kids. Lappin and Whitnall have retired. Remember our backline for round 1? bay 13 trolls were in raptures over how bad it was. nothing against the players but they were just so young and the only people to hear of them were BLues fans.

I agree with Kernahan and nutcase. Better times are not far away.

so confident am I of this, that I'm starting to think about which boots to kick with when other teams are down. Should I go with the steel caps for immediate impact or a softer shoe for more kicks....

now, there is an ambiguous term there, 'not far'. Some people might think not far is next week, others the end of the year and others next year. I think it means the second half of this season.

How do we measure it? Maybe, it is that simple.

We're not gonna know ourselves if we string a few together.
Seriously, it's gonna be such a welcome change when it happens.
The next three games are truly winnable I reckon.
What a difference it would make.

enuff...fluff.

you are right win/loss is not the best way to measure a team.

if we break it down a bit furthwer we can have a look at quarters won and lost in 2008

3 won
1 drawn
8 lost

yes we have less experienced players now than 3 - 4 years ago but that experience is off set in the 'quality' of players we have on the list now

3 - 4 years ago we didn't have a bunch of round 1 draft picks
3 - 4 years ago we didn't have the best player in the comp (even though he is not 100%)

let's not pretend all is rosy and we are just about to turn the corner as we are still blocks away from the corner.

"let's get games into the kids"- how about we get games into them when they deserve it, how about we make every player in the 22 earn their spot each week.

Reckon we might just see a pretty hard at it, desperate Carlton team on Sunday. With the press we have been getting this week about our "record", reckon we might come out pretty hard against Collingwood on Sunday.

Strap yourselves in people, it could be a pretty torrid opening.

that is what we need for 22 rounds, not after 3 rounds.

let's hope this game is the turning point for the group of players.

Agree. It shouldnt take a rev up in the papers and a reminder of a unwanted record looming to get the club up and about.
With all the talk from the club and media this week im expecting a win.
Why? Because they will come out and answer the critics with tough harder contesed and more accountable footy. But this should be the way we play every week not just when they cop a spray in the media

agreed, however the problem is that there are not alot of options in terms of replacing the kids that aren't performing. Also remember one of the criticism of Pagan was he supposedly wasn't playing enough kids. Hence Blues supporters want to see more games given to the yougn players.

I just don't feel as pessimistic as some others. I have always felt that our real resurgence would not happend until our top end draft picks turned at least 21 or 22. Apart from Russell they are not there yet.

I love it when Sticks comes out to play.

My expectation is the boys will too - looking forward to it.

isn't that a sad inditement on our playing list that to come out and play we need a former player to get stuck into the players or the coach to rev them up in the media?

this is what annoys me more than the losses- the way we go about things.

It hurts.

But at least there is some heart beating in the club - good on yer Sticks.

i think sticks was talking to the fans in that article not the players. I didn't see it as rev up, more like he was trying to reassure the fans.

there is a fair chance kernahan will have a word to the playing group at some stage this week, like a did a few years back at 1/2 time when he revved up fev and others.

the only thing that is going to re assure the fans is the actions that the players take everytime they step out onto the field or training track.

No doubt we'll come out hard...
No player/team likes to be called soft, coupled with a rev up from the mighty mullet man and our longest losing streak on the line....if we don't come out like denzel washington in 'man on fire' we never will.

Can't wait for this week i reckon we're a real chance. Get to the game blues fans!

That's it!
I see a way...
Gibbs must grow a Mullet!
To harness the power of the number 4 jumper and to channel
kernas he must do it... and lower his voice about 4 octaves.
And maybe get a love for KFC.... maybe not...leave that to nick.

I always look forward to playing the black and white. Any opportunity to win makes me salivate. Imagine how good we would feel if in the end its Blue domination.
