Who will you vote for?

Personally, I hate what has happened to our club and Clinton Casey is as responsible as Danny effing Frawley. But on the other hand, I think he's made some good moves in appointing Wallace and Steve Wright and having faith in Greg Miller so I'm not sure.

I don't know what Macek brings to the table. What are his proposals?

5 years ago, Casey took over a club that was in pretty darn good financial shape. Since then it's all been shyte.

I can't wait to get my hands on the ballot paper so I can vote for the new alternative.

Punt Road End is pretty biased, but does set out the new group's qualifications and proposals (although loosely expressed).

It's time...

Very true and this is how I'm heading also. Casey has fcked out finances well and truely but has landed a good coach and CEO. Positive things are happening.

Tigers' board spill
10 November 2004 Herald Sun
Mark Stevens

THE battle for power at Richmond is about to flare again after confirmation yesterday that all positions on the club's board will be up for grabs at a December 22 annual general meeting.

All board members – including president Clinton Casey – have agreed to let the supporters decide their future.

Aspiring president Charles Macek, leader of the rebel ticket, hopes to sweep to power by getting his entire ticket of nine candidates over the line in a members' vote.

Postal voting will be held between close of nominations of directors on December 1 and December 17.

Further information and formal notices will be sent to members soon.

Under the terms of the constitution, nominations for board positions must close 21 days prior to the meeting.

Casey yesterday vowed to fight.

He said the club had taken significant strides forward in terms of restructuring – including the recruitment of coach Terry Wallace and chief executive Steven Wright.

Casey said he had yet to see any plans for the future from the opposing group. "I think I am the best person to take the club forward," he said.

Macek last night said he was pleased to receive official confirmation there would be a complete spill of board positions.

Macek and his group will continue to push for a senate-style ballot form where members would basically get to choose between both groups.

There would also be scope to vote for independents, but Macek is keen to avoid a board comprising members of both factions. "It would give us the best chance to be a united team – otherwise we could get a very hybrid board," he said.

Darn good financial shape?

If you mean money in the bank then I agree but at the same time we had crap facilities, we had the most under financed Footy department in the AFL, we couldn't attract a decent coach. There is a bigger picture hear that keeps getting over looked.

I know we are going to make a loss this year of about $2.5 million but that doesn't mean we are $2.5 million in debt (although listening to Mr Macek this morning on SEN you'd think we were 4 or 5 million in debt  ). Our debt will be around 600-800k dollars - yes a debt but the numbers I have heard bandied about in the press. Compared to other teams in the AFL this is manageable.

Leon Daphne appointed Danny Frawley at the end of 1999. The Casey Board gave him the extension after we played off in the finals in 2001. They honoured a contract that may have just assisted us in landing Terry Wallace

The bottom line is Casey will not open the books and that alone tells you something is wrong.

Casey has also choosen to alienate the many of the members and sponsors by not consulting when required.

One great example is the 22 game membership that was going to cost more than paying for each game individually.

He has also relied on team performance to boost profits.. What a risky stategy that has been..

Casey has left a legacy of poor finacial management and for that he must pay..

I know who I will be voting for.....
