Just want to get some thoughts on where people think he is at.

I know he is a dominant CHB but I feel he has so much to offer at CHF. Has really looked good there the past few games. I feel he could go on and dominae at CHF. I think the club needs to concentrate on developing another option at CHB (whether that be Stevens or another?) and leave him at CHF. He looks the most likely we have had there for some time. I missed a lot of this season due to travel so want to get people's opinions of his form at CHF compared to Hentschel before he went down also.

Just want to add also. I think he needs to work on his distance kicking at goal. Seems to struggle from around the 50 mark. But in saying that he has kicked some rippers on tight angels recently. Was instrumental in the dying mintues on Sat aswell

I know the traditional names for positions don't mean a great deal these days, but Bock and Hentschel both played predominantly on the full forward line this year. Perrie has played CHF when in the team, and Kenny filled in for him while he was out injured. IMO Sarge is still our best option at CHF, and Bock our best CHB.

get him fit, and hope he stays fit...plonk him at CHF for an entire year and he can do some real damage...best hands of our bigger blokes...genuine talent to be excited about, and he's only 23.

Spot on IMO

I like him at CHB. The run he generates is invaluable. That's not to say that Stevens doesn't provide that run, he does, but not quite to the same extent. Bock also has a better build to play on bigger players than Scott Stevens. I want Bock to be our number 1 CHB, but as a player who can go forward when needed. Scott Stevens is probably more a Bassett type of player and not a career CHB. And, in my opinion, McGregor just does not provide enough run from defence. He's a good defender, but I have grown to prefer a Bock type who launches attacking moves from that position.

Admittedly we are in need of a more dynamic forward. I'm just not sure how far we can go with McGregor and Perrie as the two tall forwards. They do the job, but can we win a premiership with them occupying the two forward posts? Possibly, but only if Welsh and Burton are damaging enough.

Agreed with the part in bold. Just one more strong versatile forward would be fantastic. McGregor and Perrie as 'supporting' type forwards is the way to go, but when they attract the best 2 defenders they can go missing.

I would like to try and trade Ken McGregor but if he is still on at the club next year (highly likely to be at the club) my preference would be for McGregor to move back to CHB and Nathan Bock to stay at CHF.

Halfway thought season 2008 Trent Hentschel (I have faith that he will make it back to full fitness and as a forward) and Nathan Bock could become a very good tandem in the forward line.

2007

FF: Bode Ricciuto Meesen/Biglands/Hudson (rotating ruckman in the forward line)

HF: Burton Bock Welsh

If tall forwards are our biggest weakness why would you want to trade one of our best, a month after we've lost another to long term injury? Do you think we should trade Perrie away while we're at it?

This is a good call....:thumbsu:

He is very agile and has kicked a couple of "impossible" goals this finals series.

My Plan A would start his across HF.......possibly going back if required

All good points **** - but this is why Bock needs to go forward IMO

I don’t subscribe to the theory that a player should be kept around a football club simply for insurance purposes. If he is not good enough to be a first picked player at the Adelaide Football Club we may as well try and trade him to a club that can use him and we can also get some benefit out of it, if we keep him around and he play the season in the SANFL he become a useless commodity.

If he stays at the AFC he must be moved back to CHB and Bock is played as our primary key forward.

What do you do with Scott Welsh? Play him at West Adelaide or delist him because he is not a defender nor does he have the ability to play in an AFL midfield.

Playing Kenny @ CHB -they way the game has evolved is a dangerous ploy IMO

"dominant CHB" since when was Bock ever a "dominant" CHB. he played a few enourcaging games down back but the way some people talk it's as though he was pushing AA selection. If we are to be a chance in 2007, Bock must play forward.

How many games did he play this year? He'll play the same amount again next year.

McGregor's hardly on the list as insurance, he's an integral part of our playing list.

I like it.

Are you suggesting we play 3 ruckmen, with one always positioned at FP at any given time?

If we go with the traditional 2 ruckman format, McGregor to the FP for mine but i would be happy with the above line-up.

Allegedly we cannot win a premiership with him (Ken McGregor) playing as a key forward and the game has evolved to the point where he is ineffective at center half back.

Yet we cannot trade him because we have a limited amount of KPP?

Dammed if we do and we are dammed if we don’t.

What would you prefer I used to describe him? Genuine CHB? Good CHB? its a figure of speach and means nothing but that he plays well in the position. Dominant was probably not the best word to use. Sorry

Not nessaserily, but its an option but we need to have a big man up forward to take a contested mark or at least bring the ball down to ground. It comes out far too easily.

Where is he going to play if we cannot go far with him as a forward

And, in my opinion, McGregor just does not provide enough run from defence

So where does he play? Ruck or midfield ?

My apologies. Went abit overboard but I don't see a huge difference between Bock and Stevens at CHB. We need Bock more at CHF than CHB. Stevens is more than adequate CHB, for the time being.
