Port Arthur was when I was in high school, and the Cronulla riots not long after I finished. We appear to be regressing to what I grew up in.

One improvement is that apparently these guys were limited to shotguns and bolt action rifles. There's definitely still loopholes in them but the Port Arthur laws worked - it could have been a lot lot lot worse.

UK's mass killing numbers are vastly better than the USA. Obviously, no killings would be the ideal, but humans will human.

Have seen on-line chat from some about citizens having guns would have prevented this. What nonsense. The USA proves the fallacy of that - indeed the opposite, rampant mass killings abound, and "protective shootings" are limited in effect (except if you ask the NRA!).
